What created the Highwaymen

Can you imagine waking up tomorrow and suddenly all the established movie stars "disappeared"? Suddenly all the people doing films were unknowns? Suddenly these unknowns are treated like they were famous? Can you imagine Tom Hanks not being able to beg, buy, borrow or steal a bit part in a movie?
The world of Country music had become pretty much like that. And I still don't understand completely how that was. It was exactly this situation that caused Waylon,Cash,Kristoffeson, and Willy to become "The Highwaymen". It was because the established artists who had long ago paid their dues; couldn't get arrested in Nashville.
That was so bizarre! Wonder if I'll ever understand what happened at that time? It's kinda scary to see how perfectly the arts are manipulated by an unseen hand.
