Don't forget folks, it was not very long ago when people actually championed civic accomplishments. The Minnesota Miracle fueled economic and population growth that has not been matched since the political "redding" of Minnesota.

I was in the Army stationed at Fort Ord near Monterey CA when that Cover came out. I was then and still am a regular reader of Time magazine and was very proud of the Cover. Both friends and strangers seemed impressed that I was from Minnesota and many were interested, curious and asked questions about Minnesota.

In the Army then, especially as there were lots of draftees, most coworkers and members of your Company knew your home State and you knew theirs. Much of the Country, including California, seemed to be in constant turmoil then, and many people imagined Minnesota was like Utopia. Except some of the Southerners I think were permanently spooked by the thought of below zero weather and had never met an ice fisherman.

Wendy Anderson just won't go away. He is still on Sunday morning shows spewing his liberal offal.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Cancer

You've had enough time to yourself lately. This is a day to focus on family, with all the good and bad that that brings. Crabs would much rather be at the top of the tree than down near the roots, but that's life. You might be smart when it comes to matters of the heart, but you don't know it all quite yet.
