Sue McCloud gets turned into the FPPC a month ago and is reprimanded immediately. Seaside Planning Commissioner Paul Mugan received a similar reprimand when he challenged Ralph Rubio for Mayor in Seaside a couple of years ago. Both items received coverage in the Herald.

HOWEVER, when Monterey Planning Commissoner Ralph Widmar failed to report several thousand dollars in expenditures and contributions in his bid for Monterey City Council, it was reported to the FPPC where it still, 3.5 years later, remains an open case, with no coverage by the Herald. What's going on here?

Suffice it to say Carmel Mayor Sue McCloud just got caught this time and the FPPC had to at least send her a warning letter. But watchers of Sue McCloud know she will continue her unethical ways and disrespect for laws, including the Brown Act. Consider her writing and sending a fax to fellow planning commissioners in 1997 which concluded if we all hang together on this we can kill this project. She then misused her position as mayor to pursue a personal vendetta against the aforementioned applicant which has led to lawsuits against the city for violations of state and federal laws, including violations of constitutional rights. And her conduct in the Jane Miller and John Hanson cases has been unethical also, bringing shame and embarrassment to any moral Carmelite paying attention!

How weird and callous that in a run-down of several stories, which happened to include a hand-slap for Sue McCloud over a minor infraction of the FPP rules, the two ardent comments would focus on that and not the suicide of one of PG's long-time public servants. I will miss Bob personally, and Pacific Grove will miss his untiring commitment to serve his community.
