I KNOW HOW THESE PEOPLE FEEL I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN MY AREA BUT NO ONE CARES

We have the same problem in Old Town Noblesville. This is the result of allowing growth to out pace infrastructure improvements. This will continue to get worse. The town council wanted to widen our street, but we blocked it. That would have had allowed more cars and more speeders through our residential neighborhood. We even get people speeding up and down our alleys trying to cut 2 seconds off their drive.

After our presentation to the Noblesville Common Council on Tuesday evening there was a four way stop installed at the intersection, by the playground and pool area, the following morning. Although the Traffic Committee had been aware of the issue since September of 2006 it appears that once the Common Council and Mayor became aware changes were initiated.
Several homeowners will be attending the Planning Committee meeting this Friday morning, at city hall, to continue to pursue the closure of access to Mill Grove subdivision from Little Chicago Road at 191st Street as this is the safest resolution for our children.

When will the intersection at 38 and Little Chicago Road be changed to address the traffic issue?

Another homeowner and I attended a roads committee meeting this morning along with Noblesville Common council members Dale, Snelling, Kathie Stretch and Alan Hinds. John Beery, City Engineer stated that the situation had been resolved with the placement of a 4-way stop on Wednesday. We voiced our concern that the access at 191st street should be closed for the safety of our children.
Items brought by of committee members included emergency access to the neighborhood (response times), The closure would just move the issue south to the Planner Drive entrance from Little Chicago Road, and that once the INDOT project is completed the problem would diminish.
Currently the INDOT project is slated for bids in 2008, however this is subject to change at any time.
A consensus was reached to schedule a meeting of homeowners, Noblesville Common Council Members and representatives of the Engineering Dept., Street Dept., Police and Fire Chiefs to further discuss the concerns and hopefully find an acceptable resolution. Mr. Beery was tasked with scheduling this meeting and communicating this information to the interested parties.
There is a video clip of the intersection and our concerns, from a news piece aired on WTHR Thursday evening, available at www.wthr.com
