Mom knew he had an illegal gun. That makes her an accessory to murder.

I don't wonder why someone in the house had a gun. The guy had been charged what? 2 or 3 times previously for domestic abuse and he was still there? It doesn't say whether it was serious enough for a hospital visit by the mom or any of the kids. Remember what happened in N. St. Paul when the officer was at the other end of the quarrel. This time the kid was trying to be the man and stop what was obviously a recurrent nightmare for these kids. Anger builds for a long time in these situations. I don't doubt the kid was in a sad mental state this time around. Why wasn't this guy locked up somewhere where he couldn't mentally traumatize these kids anymore. Sounds like the courts dropped the ball again.

One shot in the face may heave been enough to chase the old man off.
The son unloaded a gun on the guy filling his back with lead.
Very murderous indeed and that changed everything.
How quickly we forget. The officer that is now a former officer who unloaded his gun into the kid because he thought he saw a gun? Somehow that is okay when it is an adrenalin high chasing someone?
Don't think that maybe the dad if only wounded would have charged and possible killed the son? This could have had a totally different ending if the kid had frozen with the gun.

The victim was convicted of domestic assault-related cases in 2001, 2003 and 2004. What a jerk he must have been, he looks like an angry guy. It's hard to imagine what it must have been like living in that house every day. I almost feel sorry for the gun totin' son. I wonder if the son was a gangsta?
No he wasn't he didnt have a criminal record, was volunteering and going to school. He seen to much growing up he finally took matters in his own hands, maybe not the best way. Hopefully at court the mom will finally stick up for her children and herself and fight for he son's freedom.

I don't think the dad was charging him unless he was charging backwards. The kid shot him 8 times in the back.

The comments do bother me, in fact it is very sad to see the amount of people posting on stories that are so sad and have nothing but hateful comments and they do it while hiding behind a computer. What a bunch of poor souls you must be - Cowards......that is what you all are.

And shooting someone in the back 8 times is not cowardly?

A coward is someone who makes excuses for bad behavior, and every one in this story, except the boat load of kids other than the shooter, was a criminal! Get over your smug self.

Care to elaborate, since I never mentioned race. Or is that beyond your intellectual capacity?

I will gladly elaborate. Who were you referring to when you wrote ‘…except the boat load of kids…?’ Was this not in reference to their (blacks) culture - you know, those people with kids all over the place. Those words are inappropriate and racist. Not all blacks have a ‘boat load of kids.’ You could have used a better choice of words or, preferably, not mention them at all. How many children there are in this family has nothing to do with what the young man did. If anything, he should be charged with manslaughter, nothing more.

What passkey admits you to the moral elite? And how do you make the leap from boat-load to racism? Your sympathy for a trigger-happy teen who shot his dad in the back is touching, though. The world needs more people like you!

The victim, I meant the victim, the guy that got shot to death, you thought I was refering to the murderer.
What was he "volunteering"?
