And your point is, OH by the way I am an El Pasoan Not sure where that Tucson AZ came from, maybe has something to do with the server I am hooked up to, so you are not telling me anything I don't already know. Who gets the property taxes from the new outlet mall in Canutillo? Not El Paso we would not give them a tax break. Why is the new Toyota plant in San Antonio, because we are not business friendly. Why, Why, Why, I could go on for ever just like you do. Tell me where I can find the new County Coliseum? OH that is right for the last 30 years we have been afraid to build it because SOMEONE might make some money. Where is the Aquatic center, oh that one that was going to bring in the swim meets from around the country. Where is the baseball sport plex? Oh that field of weeds, that is on the East side, How many teams have come into El Paso so they could have their tournament here. SHOULD I GO ON, I HAVE LIVED HERE, I AM A PROUD EL PASOAN, I AM PISSED THAT WE ARE STILL A SMALL TOWN WITH SMALL TOWN IDEAS. El Paso has so much to offer, just like Mexico, they also have so much to offer but they are a third world country. Mexico and El Paso could be so much if it wasn't for people that have no forsight.
Where your server is ,is not the issue, perhaps until the other Phuoc got your ire up you were just too embarrassed to say that you live in El Paso and would rather portray yourself as some member of the larger more sophisticated world and would innocently contribute.
Yeah, I really miss the Aquatic Center, what with the crowd gathered on the south shores of the Rio Grande that was a can't miss deal. Aw shucks!
Yeah an the outlet mall in Cantalope there is another one that got away, Then there is the Toyota plant! Baseball field?
You have been watching "Fields of Dreams" too much. Just because they build it does not mean that they will come. But, what is true is that through the years whatever personal little fantasy of the various democrats was in vogue was chased after with our TAX dollars until suddenly no Swimming hole, because the people saw the reality.
I noticed you said nothing about Western Playland leaving, why is that? Could it have anything to do with being able to do business elsewhere without the heavy tax base? Look at the geography and figure it out! El Paso without consideration of all the things that can be assigned to malfeasance in both the county and city was handicapped from the start. If it were not for sister J this place would be even smaller.
Take your magic wand and click your Ruby heels together three times and tell me, what it is that can be done to change the third world environment. I much prefer this location, although I entirely despise the politicos tha are so full of false promises and have been through the years.
What is really the shame is that the burden of most El Pasoans is just to survive each day. Do not talk to me about those that are professional, government employees or those of such ilk. Talk about those that are actually in the majority in the population and are not insulated from the effects of all the pollyanas. These are the people that carry the burden of each time someone wants to tell them that this new tax giveaway or this new department is just the thing that is going to make all the bad of the past go away and suddenly we will leap into the land of honey. The amazing thing is that they said NO! to that swimming hole at all.
But for them it is a long weary fight that deserves more than you lamentations about being a small town-- go to the shops downtown around Sante Fe, the people I talk to, like their small little piece of the world and so do their customers. They don't like the mall, although they shop their too, it's too impersonal and they don't like their money leaving town or paying for a dream that is false.

I will say it one more time - and that is the reason why we are a one horse town and always be a one horse town.

When the attitude that (poor me) we are a border town and we can't be much more than we are, changes we will stay the sorry, poor town that we are.

Were a poor town, because the businesses here wont pay a living wage, because they can get cheaper labor from our neighbor. Were also a one horse town because the powers that be are more worried about lining their pockets and not about the people who live here.

I had a guy tell me that they want all the Anglos to leave El Paso.. well its slowly happening.

Muhnay,I find that very hard to believe that someone told you that they want all the anglos to leave El Paso, I think that the real problem you have is that you want complete anglo domination in El Paso and the reason you dont have anglo domination in El Paso is because anglos where ever they dominate as soon as someone of a different skin color moves in, they new comers first get the silent stare me down treatment (in hope's they get out of town soon), if that dont work then up goes to foe sale sign and the anglo moves away, you know as the old anglo slogan use to say,
"THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD" this concept is still very much practiced today it's like a ritual.

I'm not allowed on the white peoples forum "CD" anymore, my freedom of speech has been revoked.

But I would say this much for any white person considering leaving El Paso, STAY and fight, just wait and see when all these new soldiers come to El Paso, alot of them will be bringing their way of life to El Paso, when you have more in numbers things seem to taper out.
