Unfortunately...and I and part of that younger crowd...when they schedule "things for us" (1) a certain select group of idiots ruin it,(2)we complain that it isn't what we want still and don't attend,(3) jump on topix and "voice" our opinions without voicing then in the appropriate channels (and yes if I was on the board I would look at topix to see what those select idiots say), or (4) talk about how crappy Van Wert is and how there isn't anything to do ever.

I agree there needs to be more stuff to do in Van Wert but it isn't always those "Boards" that should decide. Maybe groups needs to rent the fairgrounds, the NPAC, Fountain Park, etc to showcase other talents (and there are good music groups that are really cheap that could bring in a lot of people).

Also I forgot to mention that last year there was as many younger people at these events as there was older people.

I hate the idea that people say "they only bring in stuff for old people." I am sure a lot of people enjoy that music...after all there are a lot of theme parks that utilize the 50's theme music.

Plus the bands they bring in are family friendly meaning there won't be any foul language coming from the stage. I guess it is safe for the whole family. Most concerts I have attended is hit or miss when it comes to being appropriate for younger people.

you must be blind if you think there are as many under 30 people as there are 30 and over at park concerts?? maybe 20% are under 30 but thats a stretch

Michael Jackson would be for old people. Wasn't he like 50 something? Trouble is, anyone who's popular today wants more money than any of the budgets around here can handle.

My wife and I love the 50's and 60's music at Fountain Park. We will ride our Gold Wing over from Decatur and bring lawn chairs and eat our supper there. You are so lucky to have these FREE concerts in your town. Thanks to the Niswonger Foundation and the Saltzgaber Music Fund.

Julie do you agree that all shows are geared towards senior citizens? Why should we have to get involved, hoverman already knows what he is doing is wrong but he continues to book the geezer shows because he's a geezer. I mean the guy would not recognize relevant music if it kicked him in the face. Sad
The geezers of our day did not even consider that entertaining us was somehow their responsibility. We did it ourselves; Van Wert had dances, and concerts with live bands, many nationally known and popular at that time, that were ran and organized by kids. Do something for yourselves and remember when you are the geezers you will more than likely do the same evil deeds to your kids and grandkids.

OMG, no kidding!
I am so sick of younger people whining about "there's nothing to do".
Well, get off your dead entitled asses and MAKE something to do besides getting high and popping out welfare babies.
Get a group together and bring a band you like to town, talk to Perks, they have done it.
Organize an event about something you like.
We (boomers) made things happen, so can you Gen-whatevers.
