wow looks like the newest music we will get to hear this year in the park is 30 years old but most of it looks to be music from 50 to 60 years ago, looks like another summer of just geezers in the park. if you are 30 or under you have only heard this stuff on oldies radio people. great stuff for the over 30 crowd, for the 30 and unders....not so much:)

First, the organizers of the park schedule try to find entertainment that most will find enjoyable. They really don't care about the whiners because there are always cry babies who will whine about anything and everything.

I wondered just how long it would take before some little baby started crying about the schedule for the concerts in the park. It didn't take very long; surprise.

I would ask this little child who is whining, "What did you do to make your wishes known? Whine?

Did you offer to get involved? no, just whined.

What did you do to contribute to the schedule? Just whined?

Did you try to bring in the entertainment you like? No just whined.

It seems like you are just a whiner. Nobody listens to whiners. I'd guess that your own family doesn't want to listen to you whine either.

Maybe you ought to find something productive to do then you wouldn't find so much to whine about.

you are right when you say the organizers really don't care. they hear the same complaints every year but every year we get the same old same old.....here is a thought...how about something new something current something that has not been dead for half a century....oh wait i forgot, they just don't care. How about one show geared towards the 25 and under crowd? Come on just one you can do it if you really care...haha

dude give it up, they would be scared shitless to put on a show for the teens in the area...haha oh my can you imagine them doing that? i do agree though that people always complain that there is nothing for teens to do in this town but when the folks in charge have the ability to help the problem and don't, what you gonna do?

It sounds like all of you have all of the answers. What are you doing to help bring about what you would like to see?

It sounds like Perplexed is right; you are just whining and complaining because that is all you know how to do and you are really not very good at that.

Even though you have a lot of experience, my five year old is much better at it.

Wipe the tears out of your eyes and get involved. Calling people names is very juvenile and it will never win others to your side.

I am an expert at personalities from typing techniques through the internet and it seems to me that "Perplexed" and "know it alls" are the same person. Way to stick up for yourself there, bud.

An excerpt from the article:

"The fun of bringing lawn chairs and blankets to Fountain Park will continue this summer beginning with the opening performance during the Peony Festival and ArtRageous on Main weekend."

Seriously though, are you all really whining because you want to have so much fun sitting on lawn chairs or blankets at a park with a poop creek running through it? Lol. Wow!!

all we can do is complain we do not book the shows but the people who do know that many are unhappy with the older age group that every show is aimed at. what else can we do but bitch?

I would be happy if there weren't so many imitation bands ... seriously!! There's three nights of groups singing someone else's songs ... that's ok once is a while, but really, three of them? What's wrong with some original music? Glad to have the Van Wert boys home for a concert, and some repeats again ... and thankful it's free and a nice place to go on a Friday night. Just wishing that for a little more variety, and yes, some younger music for the kids. We always say we want them to stay in the Van Wert area, wouldn't it be nice to show them that once in a while?

The older people bring legal prescription drugs to the park. Having older appealing entertainment means no one under 35. It's a matter of keeping the coke, blow, horse, snow, meth and hash on the north side, where it belongs.

ROFL - It appears that if you disagree with the summer concert line-up, and decide to voice your opinion - even giving a part of it props - you are "judged" as "clueless" "off topic" "nuts" and/or "spam". Someone needs to get out their dictionary to learn what some of these "judgments" mean! Thanks for the laugh -it was well worth posting for.

I love how every year Paul Hoverman builds this huge anticipation before he announces the lineup for the concerts in the park when in reality he could just say that its just more of the same old worn out has beens we have had every other year. Nothing new, nothing fresh, nothing real, nothing for the young people in town. I really think part of the blame for this goes to the Van Wert County Foundation for providing money every year that only appeals to the older generation. That is not being fair to younger generation and I am sure the money you are donating was not earmarked to just benefit senior citizens...am I right?? We agree with Barb, why not at least ONE concert geared to the young crowd??? What you scared of??

Please. If you have issues then please volunteer your services. Too many people whine that there is nothing to do but they don't give anyone options...but I am sure you will say, "I gave my input.". However, topix doesn't count.

Julie do you agree that all shows are geared towards senior citizens? Why should we have to get involved, hoverman already knows what he is doing is wrong but he continues to book the geezer shows because he's a geezer. I mean the guy would not recognize relevant music if it kicked him in the face. Sad

They don't want any young hot and abled bodies dancing like its a footloose movie down there. They'd be gettin' all jelly because they would break a hip if they tried to move like us. Let them have their fun on blankets in a park. We can all meet at the Old South and have an orgy.

I'm Just asking. But who decides this Board? If Van Wert isn't happy with the music selection then why is it packed each week? That is only my observation.

Plus if you aren't happy then book Fountain Park and bring in your own bands. But I'm guessing you wouldn't do that because it requires work.

its no work to book talent but it does require a lot of money because i would not be getting everything paid for by the van wert foundation.i do not think anyone is saying the shows are not good or well attended but they are all geared 100% for old crowds and i for one think they should have shows for young people too.
