Readers recommend: songs inspired by poems
John Keats ... some say his words carry more weight than those of Johnny Borrell.

Songs are poems, they have stanza, or verses, set to music, and refrains yet repetitive verse called chorus. They have pentameter and rythm, rhyme, alliteration and so on. They have simile and metaphore, allusion and history. I think songs are poetry. They are simply set to music and sung, not recited. They are verse. I usually write my music as poetry first then transform them into lyric, which is a type of poetry, then set it to rhytm and then to music. Poetry set to music is song in my world.
