Paul Ryan's Phony Appeal to Unity

Apr 6, 2012 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.theatlantic.com

He says Obama is dividing Americans. In fact, the U.S. is inescapably divided between competing visions for the future.

Rep. Paul Ryan, criticizing the record and rhetoric of President Obama, has this to say: "He is going to try to divide us in order to distract us. You know, I seem to remember him saying that he was going to be a uniter, not a divider. Frankly, I think this is one of the worst of his broken promises." As Newt Gingrich might say, what a bunch of pious baloney.

Why does this have to be so complicated, the latest estimates are that in the next decade we will spend about 9 trillion dollars more then we have. The white house refers to that as "more than desirable" No shit more than desirable, we can balance a budget for one year so where are we going to come up with almost an extra trillion a year to pay that off, not to mention all the accumulated debt we already have.

Ryan - we got to do something about this 9 trillion.
Obama- eliminate the bush tax cuts for the rich.

Lets talk about that, over 10 years eliminating the bush tax cuts would take that 9 trillion we can not afford down to about 5 trillion which we can not afford.

But don't confuse the bush tax cuts with the bush tax cuts for the rich, you know the over 250,000 crowd. I won't get into the argument about higher taxes hurting the economy just the numbers. Many forget the bush tax cuts helped everyone, the 15% bracket when down to 10% and you no longer gut punished for being married. If you cancel the bush tax cuts only for the rich like Obama wants now you talking about saving 1 trillion over 10 years.

People should not have to look at that math long to understand that the real problem is excessive spending not low taxes.

The 10 years after that it gets even worse on the spending side.

If President has divided you, you were a divided half-wit. Now what are you, a quarter-wit?

Who the Hell is Ryan, after all; a grandstanding fop.

Ryan is another Looney Tune

Paul Ryan claims he 'misspoke' when he called military leaders liars.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/04/02/1079... -

WASHINGTON, April 4, 2012 — President Obama, during his speech before the news editors luncheon hosted by the Associated Press, zeroed in on the Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) budget proposal and the GOP candidates supporting it. The President didn’t pull his punches, going all out, in full campaign mode.

He accused Ryan and candidate Mitt Romney, who called the Ryan plan “marvelous,” of “social Darwinism” that “imposes a radical vision” on America. He singled out the Ryan egregious tax break for millionaires which would be paid for by gutting programs for the poor, the middle class, the disabled, veterans, seniors, college students, law enforcement, and even national parks.

Likewise, except that your consistancy is projecting your perverse political viewpoint beyond the 20% of crazy, misled Americans who still think GW Bush was our greatest president, Cheney is not a criminal, and Reagan should be on Rushmore.

That's a damn lie if there ever was one! Who's us? This country has been divided significantly since the election of Bush! Your party isn't divided, is it? Neither is the Democratic party, so wth are you posting about? The Republicans don't try to unify, they simply push and bully their way through or become stubborn and obstinate and outright obstructionist and a recent poll has stated as much! Even the Supreme Court Justices were disgusted with this congress. The president has tried the bi-partisan approach with these obstinate Republicans and only when their own constituents balked about the jobs bill, did they finally open their ears and eyes to what's going on in this country besides their desire to make Obama a one term president. They haven't cared about nor done anything else of note. So as far as being divisive, the Republican party wins hands down. It's their way or the highway with no give and take.

Any budget they come up with will slice and dice programs, services and jobs that affect the poor, middle-class and working poor. It will reward the rich and corporations with tax cuts and breaks at the price of those who can least afford it.

the president has tried the bipartisan approach? what a joke. where did he try it, in the closet? he hasn't even invited his own party to the white house, nevermind the republicans. the POTUS shows great outrage when all don't agree with his policies. which are nothing more than marketing and polling shlock, anyway. the prez has not put forth a single policy that was not polled favorably before released. a backbone he has not...
