Paul McCartney and John Lennon were all very well and good, but Georgie was better.

Don't misunderstand me, I love George, but I would never say he was a better songwriter than John or Paul. George eventually developed into a great songwriter, but early on, he couldn't hold a candle to the hit making partnership of Lennon/McCartney. And the guy who wrote the article, didn't have to take jabs at John & Paul while he was praising George. George wrote some great songs with & without the Beatles, but he also wrote some bad ones, I'm mainly talking about his eastern influenced songs, "Within You Without You" & "The Inner Light" I find both of those songs unlistenable.

Well Chris, I won't compare the talents of the three Beatles, however, this guy who wrote this didn't measure things right. Maybe in his eyes George was the best. Anyway, George composed great stuff and some you can ignore stuff. Like all. Generally speaking, the spirituality that he was giving to the songs was something that the others didn't have. Just like George didn't have Lennon and Paul's multiple talent.

George became a great song writer and in the early days he should of been allowed more songs on the Beatle albums. He was usually only given two songs and he should of had at least 4 songs per album. Lennon and Mccartney could write great songs and hits but George was held back some what. That's one of the reasons they broke up so they all could see what each one was capable of doing I guess.

George was OK but not in the same class as contemporaries Mc Cartney, Young, or even recents like Jud Norman. The question is if he were not a Beatle how would he be judged?
