The day the Beatles and Elvis Presley met face-to-face

Jun 10, 2009 Full story: www.examiner.com 73
For years, it's been one of best untold stories ever -- what happened Aug. 27, 1965 when the Beatles met Elvis Presley in a house in Los Angeles. Few details have slinked out and there are photos, possibly taken by a fan, that purports to be from the evening. ‘If you guys are just going to sit around and stare at me, I’m going to bed.’ That broke the ice and got a laugh out of everybody. Right away, the Beatles understood that Elvis was a guy with a sense of humor—and a guy who really loved crazy British humor. It wasn’t too long before John and Elvis were talking about Peter Sellers and favorite scenes from Dr. Strangelove.” Full Story

One of the two greatest meetings the Beatles ever had,the other being meeting Bob Dylan in 1964.

It's too bad that the only photos taken are blurry and taken in the driveway by a fan.
Gueess the rumors of a unreleased jam are just rumors, but it would have been interesting had the Beatles and Elvis jammed and recorded some 50's songs.

John and Elvis that would be priceless if they would of recorded it.George was too busy trying to find some reefer from those Mephis boys.Ringo played football with Mr.Swivel Hips.I think Paul jammed with Elvis too.I'm sure it was awkward for all of them.

The Boys were stoned out of their minds as they poured out of the limo, like something out of one of their Beatles cartoons, and Elvii was waiting for them, playing a bass guitar. The only one who took it seriously was John, who later jammed with the doughnut King.

Dylan, who later was quoted as saying that he thought in the song, "I wanna hold your hand" that they were actually saying "I get high" instead of "I can't hide". At this point, he thought that he really wanted to party with these guys.. As it turned out, Dylan actually was the first to introduce the evil weed to the boys.

True,
I think Elvis and John could have gotten closer had the others left.

Evil weed, lol.
I would have loved seeing a video of Dylan and Lennon getting stoned.
Funny how it was George that became close to Dylan rather than John, but as far as later years,it was because John was gone.
What's really funny is that Dylan's new cd debuted at #1 in England and America.

Mr Swivel hips must of been sort of freaked out over meeting the Beatles.Imagine a country boy meeting four zany British guys that are becoming more popular than him or at least at the time he probably thought that.I wonder what they thought of Prescilla.Elvis and Dick Nixon were buddies plotting against the Beatles but it backfired ha ha the king got dethroned after being on the throne and taking too much pills.

John liked Bob Dylan, but despite his early enthusiasm about-at last-meeting Elvis his idol, the meeting was not what he expected to be. He didn't like meeting him, I think. Why? Because his comment on Elvis' recent works at that time(weren't so Rock'n'Roll) and he "should do something like Heartbreak Hotel". This made Elvis go aloof and nonchalant over the Beatles.

The Beatles thought it was wierd that Elvis didn't even go to the bathroom alone without one of the Memphis mafia guys following him.I bet they freaked out when George asked them if they had any reefer to smoke with the Beatles.Ringo seemed to think the whole meeting was funny but wierd.

The Beatles played pool with Elvis.

In August of 1965, Elvis was still charting high.

So, the myth of The Beatles dethroning him is false.

Elvis top 10 Albums 1963-1965:

"Girls, Girls, Girls"
"It Happened At The World's Fair"
"Fun In Acapulco"
"Elvis Golden Records Volume 3"
"Kissin' Cousins"
"Roustabout"
"Girl Happy"
"Elvis For Everyone"
"Harum Scarum"

Elvis Hits 1963-1966:

"One Broken Heart For Sale"
"Devil In Disguise"
"Bossa Nova, Baby"
"Viva Las Vegas"
"Kissin' Cousins"
"It Hurts Me"
"Such A Night"
"Ain't That Lovin' You, Baby"
"Crying In The Chapel"
(such an) "Easy Question"
"I'm Yours"
"Puppet On A String"
"Tell Me Why"
"Frankie And Johnny"
"Love Letters"
"All That I Am"

Some dethroning, huh?

John Lennon was chunky at the time.

Fatter than Elvis at the period.

Maybe, he was gobbling up all the donuts.

Beatle floons.

Some pictures would be better proof if John Lennon was aledged to be chunky. I don't think in 1965 Elvis or John was chunky they both looked fit.Lennon only weighed about 150 lbs then.

I don't think so...

Elvis looked as good as ever in 1965.

The Beatles were obnoxious over the kind of music Elvis was doing.

It was a non issue because he was under movie contracts then.

Yet, in 1965...The Beatles made the silly "Help"

Not any different than a standard Elvis film of the period.

They seemed to have wanted Elvis to go back but they changed too.

Anyway, the Beatle floon had called Elvis, "The Donut King"

In reality, Elvis could've been rude but simply had more class.

Elvis commented privately how bad The Beatles teeth were.

They had rotten teeth and their breaths stunk.

It was probably why Elvis was quiet during their meeting, right?

Funny, how things can turn the other way when you look closer, huh?

What do you mean the Beatles were obnoxious over the kind of music Elvis was doing. That's a load of crap. They looked up to Elvis why else would they want to meet him. Yes John and the guys liked the early Elvis with leather jackets because they dressed like that too in the beginning. That early rock style like Hounddog was what got their attention. The Beatles teeth were fine ignoramus didn't you see HELP there were many close up shots of them smiling. funny how things turn the other way around when you deal with facts and look closer.

Elvis had class? He wasn't sure how to even act when the Beatles showed up. He was quiet and almost left the room. They got the conversation going and talked about his music interest because Mo haired Sam kept playing and they agreed that they liked that song.Since he had a bass guitar they did get to jam a bit .Maybe not all four of them. Ringo said that Elvis and them did pass the football around maybe that was the classiest Elvis could do.

Elvis told the Memphis Mafia that they had bad teeth and breath.

Fact.

Every knows The Beatles had an obnoxious British sense of humor.

Look at their teeth in Japan on You Tube.

Disgusting.

Elvis never publicly disclosed that information on The Beatles.

I can do it for him though when you morons take shots at Elvis.

The Beatles never wiped Elvis out during the British invasion.

Yet, you clowns keep repeating that, don't you?

Greasy ass Elvis was jealous of the attention the Beatles were getting so he had to bad mouth them when they were gone. I've seen enough photos and film footage to know this is a made up crap from Old greasy donut eating Flashy jumpsuit wearing Elvis and his floon fans.
