"Sheila" from Tommy Roe sounds like a he is a second rate Buddy Holly clone. Why are you jealous over Paul McCartney?
He plagiarised the drums of "Peggy Sue", and his vocal style. The Beatles covered it, on "Live at the Star club" with Paul on vocals. Mum had his hit "Dizzy" on 45rpm.

I can certainly hear a cloning of Buddy Holly in the song. I have The Beatles "Live At The Star Club" on CD. It has a bobble head cartoon cover but for what it is, the sound quality is pretty decent. Really don't know much about Tommy Roe.

The song sounds about like "The Love Boat" theme. Never heard of John Paul Young. He was never featured in any of my rock n roll & pop books of CD's and Vinyl LP's.

Johnny Rivers is better than Tommy Roe. Paul McCartney was obviously a member of The Beatles. Therefore, his continued successful career has crossed over to his Wings and solo records till the present day. Not every musician can do what Paul has done with his high profile stardom in the music industry. What is exactly your problem? I don't see Tommy Roe's "Love" playing in Las Vegas for seven straight years. If Paul couldn't sing, how did he last over 50 years? Why does he command top dollar for his sold out concerts all over the globe? Jealous?

Tommy Roe hasn't had a hit since the sixties. He was a teeny bopper singer with stuff like Dizzy and the major cornball song Sweet Pea. he wasn't even in the same league as the Mommas and Poppas. More like corny Bobby Goldsboro who sang Honey.

He is more in the same league as Bobby Vee who did "Devil Or Angel"

I've heard of Bobby Goldsboro but I think he was a one hit wonder.

I was listening to The Mamas And Papas last night on You Tube.

I don't think they were bad at all. My mom hates them for some unknown reason. Mamas And Papas had a lot of great songs. I like "Straight Shooter" and "I Call Your Name"

Mommas and poppas were good. I like Monday Monday and a lot of their songs. California Dreaming was a huge hit.Bobby Goldsboro had one or two hits but he was sappy and real corny. Bobby Vee wasn't all that bad but he didn't last long. Come back when you grow up girl was a big hit.Tommy Roe is about like Bobby Sherman total cornball all the way.

Mamas And Papas hit just at the right time and for what they were, they racked up a string of hit records before they faded away. However, I think the best of their music holds up rather well. The Mamas And Papas were unusual because they were massed produced and acceptable hippie music that did not offend. They weren't Cream or Jimi Hendrix but were still superior than say, The Monkees. I have a two disc set of The Mamas And Papas with all the hits, some demo recordings, solo stuff. They were a very creative group. The times just changed in favor of hard rock by the late sixties/early seventies. There has always been sappy and corny music because of trends in popular music and depends on what DJ's play. Bobby Sherman was like The Partridge Family, sold to teen girls back in the era.

Mammas and Pappas were a very good band. Very good melodies and harmonies...They covered "I call your name" from the Fab Four and "Dedicated to the one I love"(originally sung by the Shirelles, among others. It deserves a listen the original:

Oh, I did a mistake. The original was sung by the 5 Royales, the Shirelles cover, however I think it's the best along with that of Moms and Paps.

And while you have mentioned those kind of groups, don't forget the Turtles. They had a bunch of good songs back then in the sixties.

I LOVE JULIO IGLESIAS. I ESPECIALLLY LOVE HIS AND DIANA ROSS' Hit Song ALL OF YOU FROM 1984. That Song PUTS ME IN A GREAT MOOD.

I love The Beatles and all, but Paul is certainly just a teeny bit overrated with his solo career. John Lennon had a much better one, in my opinion. Now, I wouldn't go as far as to say he ''sucked'', but he definitely could have done better.

I Think John Lennon Had A Much Better Career Too.
BTW Do You Like JULIO IGLESIAS? Because I Love His Song ALL OF YOU FROM 1984. He Sang This Duet With Diana Ross.

This Song Puts Me In A Good Mood. Paul Is Overrated Though.
