Reasons why SOAD sucks that you can't deny

1. Their singer sounds more like he is yelling rather than actually singing.
2. There are always sections of their songs where there's a break and you hear a peaceful flowing melody with a voice overtop of it that sounds like a teenager trying to pour emotion into it and it comes out sounding gay and girly.
3. The settings on their guitars are unclear, dirty, highly annoying, and obnoxiously immature.
4. Neither the guitarist, bassist, nor drummer show any signs of songwriting talent, nor do they seem to understand the beauty of how great music is supposed to be written.
5. Last but not least, they look like faggots.

I appreciate your opinion, and God bless the fact this is a place your allowed to have an opinion, but there is more to music than just a synthesized voice and band: a living, breathing message that offers social commentary on the closed-mindedness and insecurities of this world. Not evrything can be broken down into just black and white... there has to be a gray area somewhere.

I'm glad you seem to agree then, that SOAD is more like a social breathing commentary on society rather than a purely musical group. In other words, by your definition of what music is, the peope in the band can be in it not purely for the enjoyment of the notes, chords, and technical aspects of it, but they can be authors, humorists, and poets. Can we agree then, that SOAD is far less musical than say Dream Theater?

First of all, in the Nu-Metal, and rock community, SOAD's band members are some of the highest skilled. John (the drummer) is one of THE best drummers in the world, and if you disagree try playing the drums like he does. Secondly, every little thing SOAD does is not necisarily music, it's a message, every little mistake, every little error, everything, could be sorted out through machcines and singing the song again, and yet, it's not perfect is it? Your obviously not a musician, because the music terms in Serj's voice are extremly advanced, and if you actually listen before quickly judging you'd like it. Serj and his band members look weird, of course, they are they most eccentric band out there, HOWEVER, one of the earliest thign you learn is Nvere Judge a book by it's cover, and lastly, Serj is a hero, you can think they're faggots all you want, but beside complaining about bands, probably following "The flavour of the Month" at your community, he's done and exposed alot of the world, has exposed the real hatred that drives so called democracy, and continues to prove people like you how ignorant you really are. Your opinion has been noted, discarded and no one cares, just go home and listen to your 50 cent talk about how he got shot 3 times, while the real music legends do their work.

I love system of a down...i know that not everyone does,,,but i think its all just hate because theyre from the middle east. There amazing ppl, and none of that was true, but accually most of it was opinion, I accually see meaning in the songs Serj and Daron write. I love Serj and Daron;s voice, and i accually really appreciate thier music.

personally, i'm not a big SOAD fan, but i can respect they've had some great albums that left a mark in their own genre, just like (as you seem to adore) dream theater have affected prog metal. your point here

is nonsense. yelling is a part of music that in many genres is wholly a part of it, be it in black metal, hardcore, hell even your beloved prog metal there. it's a technique for music, and there isn't just one way of doing it

I actually laughed out loud a few times going through these posts. Contrary to what many of you believe they do NOT have song writing skills and are especially inept at writing lyrics ("why'd you leave the keys up on the table? you wanted to!" WTF!!!) Many people believe this "flagship" song has some sort of deep meaning waiting to be uncovered. err0r. It's a POS song with religious words intended to make it sound deep....and it's not. The last time I saw junior high reactions like this was when I told 12 year olds how much NKOTB sucked... This group is trash. Get over it.
