We should be asking ourselves the same question..."Who do we think we are wasting our time watching drivel like this?" Another ratings failure waiting to happen at an already-desperate network.

You should give it a chance. The BBC programme is excellent. I won't forget Stephen Fry discovering his family who were sent to Auschwitz or Jerry Springer meeting a long lost cousin. Patsy Kensit's one where she found out about her family's criminal past and was so upset, before finding a relative who was a great philanthropist was also very good. Depends how it is made in the US, but the UK show is one of the best factual programmes and nothing like the stupid B-list celeb dancing/singing shows.

This show could be just bad enough to be a hit if they launched it in the summer. Most of are American stars are B-listers Cath.

NBC better give Chuck a 3rd season if it's going to keep treating it like this

Chuck is a low-rated show NBC would be well inspired to cancel along with 90% of its schedule.

Of course, how unsurprising to see uninteresting reality shows on NBC, given that Ben Silverman made his sterling reputation by... producing bad reality shows that few ever watched.

This show will last about four weeks before resorting to the ever-popular "celebrity edition," where we discover the pasts of such illustrious individuals as Snoop Dogg, Kelly Pickler and Madonna's gardener. Whoopee.

I thought those scripts were supposed to be locked in the vault! ;)

Unfortunately, the script keeper was a former gymnast and mistook what kind of vault he/she was supposed to store the scripts in. :P

Thank you for catching that, Rena. My, but I do miss that show (Tales From the Crypt, for those who have no idea what we're talking about). :)

Nice idea, but how about working with the common folks instead of always celebs, half of who do use their real names anyway.

You're welcome.:) I always had a soft spot for anthology shows. They're very hard to pull off but are usually always interesting.

I've been looking forward to the US production for years. Sometimes I think we're pretty late jumping on the bandwagon. I've been studying genealogy for 25 years and it's a fascinating subject. The Canadian version was excellent. only wish we also received the BBC show, who also put out a magazine of the same name. We should all find out "who we are" and discover our ancestors. I'm sure it will be much more interesting that some of the "reality" shows currently on tv - open up your mind to something new.

Why? Most of what is "new" is stupid. Half the problem with this country, thinking "new" automatically means "good." They tried that with New Coke and look how that turned out.

And if I want to know about my ancestry, I'll go ask the farking Mormons, since they seem to have records on everybody anyway. Must be nice to be that OCD about something most people don't care about.

Actually, Chris, the Mormons have been interested in genealogy for as long as they have been around, mainly in order to try and prove that they've been around longer than they actually have. The creators of this show just might use them as a source, since they supposedly have some of the most in-depth records on the planet. Pity they seem to be focusing on celebs, though...I, for one, couldn't care less where Jennifer Aniston's people came from, let alone somebody like Richard Simmons, which seems to be NBC's definition of "celebrities" anymore.

I (and my genealogy research friends)am so glad that this show is coming soon and are looking forward to it. I thought it was scheduled to start yesterday and was disappointed that it was not on. Genealogy (family research)is such fun and so interesting to me that it is hard to not spend a lot of my day doing research but I cannot do a lot except in summer, here in AZ. I have told all of my genealogy friends about the show and we are looking forward to it!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Pisces

Someone is extremely headstrong and defiant today, and there's every chance that you're the one fitting this description. The more others are trying to make you behave yourself or do what they want, the more determined you'll be to do the exact opposite. Well, it is a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse in emotional Cancer, so you're excused! Show them that you're an individual in your own right without going completely overboard about it, because that will cause trouble. Then once you've got all that off your chest you can relax and look forward to a really Happy New Year!
