A searing Elektra at Seattle Opera
Rozarii Lynch Janice Baird . A night to cheer Bellini fans: absolutely splendid music, excellent singers, and a chance to see a rising star tenor.

I sam this opera Elektra in Seattle last evening. Jayne Casselman was a touching Elektra, Irmgard Vilsmaier a Chrysothemis with a beautful big voice and wonderful playing and Rosalind Plowrights Klytemnestra is great to see...I love Chris Alexanders directon full of exciting moments. Lawrence Renes and his orchestra played very good and Alfred Walker as Orest and Richard Margison as Aegisth made wonderful moments come true...
A magic evening with standing ovations...Thanks to all!

Clay, I'm jealous. "Elektra" is among my top five most cherished operas, and it's been a long while since I've seen it in live performance (Nilsson at a Met matinee years ago).
I'm not at all familiar with Jayne Casselman but, prompted by your post, I read some critical reviews of the performance; and all seemed very pleased with it.
I live in a part of the country which is unlikely to ever place very much importance on opera and vocal arts; so I must travel if I wish to participate. And so I do. Still waiting for a semi-local production of Elektra, though.
