Few regrets over wild and crazy '70s
#1 Aug 30, 2007
My name probably says it all. I miss the 70s, and I don't regret anything.
Would I do things differently now? Of course. We didn't have to worry about AIDS back then. If you were discreet and careful, you could have a lot of fun.
When I got married for the second time, my husband didn't ask about my past and I felt no need to "confess," because I didn't think it was any of his business and I still don't.
Recently a friend and I were talking about arranged marriages in the middle east. She said, "Can you imagine? Meeting someone, marrying him, and sleeping with him, all in one day?"
I told her--take away the wedding and it's the 70s all over again!
The only regrets I have are when I may have hurt somebody, though I don't think I did. Other than that, I look back and think, wasn't that a time?
In the words of Dorothy Parker: "For contrition is hollow and wraithful/And regret is no part of my plan/So I say, if my memory's faithful,/There was nothing more fun than a man!
