Missed it by that much. Actually, the new version of "Get Smart" misses by a fair-size margin. Full Story

When are the critics going to show the guts to tag Steve Carrell as an overblown, limited actor. He was very good on the Daily Show doing reporting that was over the top, because it is antithetical to what is expected.
But every movie he makes- Bruce Almighty Two, Get Smart Two, 40 Year Old Virgin, etc., he is over the top in a role that has subtle humor written into it. Flat out- he can't act.
And the couple of times I watched The Office, I cringed with his constipated looks and reactions while everyone else was gracing us with subtlety.

"Would you believe..." I'm going to go see it anyway. "How about?..." I'm going to take my kids too. I don't know if some of my favorite bits are in it; cone of silence, the 'shoephone', But if it anything near the "Get Smart" of the past, my kids need to be exposed to this type of humor. Don Adams always was able to suspend our disbeleaf to a beleavable level. If it's a hit-great, if not,"Well, Sorry about that.. Chief."

If Mel Brooks wasn't interested in revisiting Get Smart (and apparently he wasn't), then they should have dropped the whole idea. Look at the way he revived The Producers. If Mel had any hand at all in a new production, it would automatically be three times as funny.

No one can play Maxwell Smart like Don Adams. It was his voice that made me laugh.

That one bit on the old series really cracked me up.

The Claw: "Do you know rut they call me?"

Smart: "Lefty??"

Hee!

Got to love those morons in Hollywood. They can't come up with and original idea. Grave robbers pure and simple. What's next Casablanca with Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon?

We saw the movie and laughed through most of it. It was a great combination of comedy and action....Don't go expecting that this is an Oscar winning movie, but its light-hearted and silly just like the series. Noone can replace Adams, but Carrell is probably the best fit for this movie (And yes, the cone makes an appearance!)

Being an old fart who hated the moronic Get Smart Sit Com, I love the movie. It is perfect. Take the kids.

Everytime I go to the dry cleaners I think it's a front for U.N.C.L.E.

Finally, someone who can assess the quasi-emporer's clothing: nonexistent. I abhor Carell and his painfully unimaginatve and flat acting -- or, role playing. His attempts to imitate Don Adam's idiosyncracies in the movie are miserable failures. I've now firmly established him in the esteemed acting company of Pauly Shore and Rob Schneider. Good riddance, Carell.

The critic didn't even mention Dwayne Johnson's sexy-ass! Shame on you critic!
