Jazz on Miami radio died when WBUS went off the air many, many moons ago. These days it's resurrected somewhat by the only local radio refuge for real jazz: WDNA.

I was a devoted fan of WBUS for the three years of its existence, 1973 - 1976. It was not "smooth jazz." It was JAZZ. On 10/31/76, WBUS made its final broadcast, live from the Travelers Lounge. It was wonderful and sad. At midnight, WBUS signed off for the last time, with a collage of its station break recordings. Then Love-94 signed on for the first time. The very first song it played was "Love Will Keep Us Together" by The Captain and Tenille. I almost puked.
