Since the tourism council has been stirring up the interest in this part of the state, and the highway has been renamed, and people enlightened on its background, there are several investment groups and others that want to do something...right here in Newport....entertainment..attr actions, etc. ThAT means JOBS, people. That means increase in our economy, people. That means more people moving in...your homes are going to sell or rent if you are selling. That means more money coming into our community to help support our schools, our fire department and our police force. Its going to happen, but as I remember someone commenting on some other topic, "Rome wasnt built in a day". One step at a time, a little at a time, and Newport will be flourishing again. Look at Branson, Mo with all its entertainment houses. It was built a little at at time.

We have already other attractions with the museum at Jacksonport, the park and beach at Jacksonport and its paddlewheeler. We have a history of Indians living on the riverbanks...many arrowheads have been found. We had pearls in the White River. We are a wet county that already draws in people from outside counties. We have a history of the cotton gins and a bustling downtown in the 50's, 60's and 70's. We are a farming community with many proud farmers. We have the history of Sam Walton starting his career here. Just because YOU cant find something to do, doesnt mean a visitor cant, especially when things start to happen.
