Great rappers make it look easy. They just talk, right? Of course, anyone who's seen not-so-great rappers -- or tried unsuccessfully to rap for themselves -- knows that's not true.

Get your 'grill' done, get shot and live (or don't), have a 'fashion' line...Be really really fugly and rap about how girlz just wanna do you all the time. Make videos with loose, shaking booties, money being fanned out or strewn about and lots of cars. yeah, lots of cars. Get 'featured' in someone's else's song/video. Call it 'collaboration'. I have black friends who would rather poke their eyes out than listen to rap. Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Motown, Al Green, Keith Sweat, Anita Baker, John Legend--that's usually what they'll listen to. I do have a younger friend who is a Kanye West freak--I forgive her for that, lol.

I'm no supremicist or racist. I don't like the whole genre of rap. Or the culture that surrounds it. You know--the whole worshipping of money, guns, and street-cred (ahem) while denigrating women and perpetrating a myth that the '5 oh' is out to get everyone. Stop carrying pieces and you have nothing to worry about. Go make your stupid rhymes and knock it the hell off with the put-upon criminal/rapper-with-a-heart-o f-gold thing.

Let's also not forget, there are some white rappers out there who are really pretty sucky. Eminem. Vanilla Ice, lol,(alright, stop! collaborate and LISTEN...)etc.

I do have a special place for The Beastie Boys, however. They never tried to emulate black rappers or the culture. They did their own thing with some pretty amusing results. A lot of their stuff was tongue-in-cheek; they didn't take themselves too seriously and became successful for a time. Back in the day I loved 'Fight for your right to party','girls','No sleep 'til Brooklyn' and later-on,'Intergalactic'. My brothers had all their stuff...

So, no not everyone who dislikes rap music is a racist.
