How about the fact that McCain actually solicited the support of this neanderthal? Face the truth.

But Mr. McCain says he does not endorse any of Mr. Hagee’s calumnies, any more than Barack Obama endorses Mr. Wright’s.
But those who try to give Mr. McCain a pass for his embrace of a problematic preacher have a thin case. It boils down to this: Mr. McCain was not a parishioner for 20 years at Mr. Hagee’s church
No, what it boils down to is that McCain is a hypocrite.

I certainly do not equate McCain's spiritual advisor's comments with those of Rev. Wright. There is no sense of hatred for America so prevalent in Wrights sermons. "Terrorism is part of 'mainstream' Islam and the Quran, Islam's revealed text,'preaches violence.' Islam is an 'evil and wicked religion'." (Franklin Graham).
http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_war.htm

"Islam establishes a hierarchy of values in all domains. In [that hierarchy], protecting the faith is more important than protecting the self. Killing the mutumarresoun [civilian Muslims who live under the control of the infidel] is necessary to prevent the faith of the infidel from striking root" in Muslim countries. http://www.religioustolerance.org/islkill.htm

Makes sense to me, I can see why someone might refer to this as a false religion and why America might step in to stop the violence perpetrated under the name of Allah.

Billy Graham was an anti semite.
Pat Robertson was a segregationist, a racist, a fundamentalcase whackjob who wanted to unite the holyland to bring about the end of the world.
Hagee is as bad or worse and Reverand Wright is an amateur compared to these other guys.
Fundamentalism be it Muslim or Christian is the real enemy of America and freedom.
Good stuff.

Yep, he even said as much..that he wanted nuclear war to speed up the "rapture". What a kook!

I would have less trouble with McCain seeking the endorsment of these types if they had been his pastor for twenty years. McCain is a pandering hypocrite, he was right when he labled the religious right as agents of intolerence. They are actually much worse than that, they are the very people that Jesus warned us about. No true Christian could preach war, war, war like Hagee. They are all much to worldly and politically involved, not to mention wealthy. When McCain started pandering to them I lost all respect for him and then he started backtracking on other issues where I thought he'd taken the right stance to start with. I don't think it will matter much in the general election because almost every day he says something dumb, and has been getting away with it due to the media being focused on the Dem. race. That will change now that the fat lady is warming up for her song.

And what's wrong with destroying islam? Since those pedophile worshipping monkeys first spread their filth around the middle east has been stuck in the dark ages. And they want to destroy us. I can hardly wait to see the mushroom clouds on CNN. I'll have a pig roast in their honor.

In this clip, I hear McCain calling Hagee a "moral compass and a spiritual guide." Not the same as saying Hagee is his PERSONAL pastor who married him, baptised his kids, whose church he is a 20+ year member of, whom he's had a close personal spritual relationship with, or that Hagee's like an uncle to him.
And if you don't know that the Muslims who've hijacked Islam in the Middle East and Central Asia are out to destroy other religions and peoples, you're clueless.
Nice try, though.
I am out to become Emperor of The Western Hemisphere, it doesn't mean I will succeed, and it doesn't mean that Brazil has the right to start a preemtive war to stop me, or that the hemisphere needs to spend trillions of dollars they don't have to develop military forces that can't prevent terrorism, which will have to be my weapon of choice because I don't have massive armies, navies or air forces and I don't have any of the cutting edge military technology that is needed to fight the nations of the hemisphere I want to conquer, and I don't have any allied organizations like NATO to help me. I'm also not a megalithic entity, in that regard I am like Islam. Anyway, I want to be Emperor, fear me.

Did I miss something? How did poor "Mother Jones" get dragged into this brawl?

Race and Politics.
Isn’t it the GOP’s historical stance that the “liberal” Democratic Party is the party of whites that feel sorry for impoverished blacks and display compassion through spending tax dollars for social programs? This ideology, and attitude have dominated the Republican Party for decades now. Of course the rhetoric or euphemisms are disguised in such terms as “He’ll be tough on crime.” Which when processed in the minds of the voter means “He’ll lock up the bad guys.” Which when further processed means,“He’ll lock up the black guys.” Or “He’ll cut taxes” which when processed in the mind of the voter means “He’s going to let me keep more of my money” which in turn means there will be less taxes to spend on social programs. These are just two examples of the most common euphemisms or code language used in politics.
“Race” is the most important issue that “we the people” of these United States must finally begin to have an open and honest discussion about. We must take this issue on head on, no matter how painful it may be for some. Just what is brewing we will soon all find out.
Someone who gets it, all hail The Real Voice of Reason.

These leaders of the religious right are every bit as dangerous as the Muslim fundees. If they had the power or ability to do it they would force their beliefs on everyone. Oddly enough, I belive that if people everywhre acted according to the teachings of people like Jesus,Gandhi and the Dali Lama many of the problems we have with some of the muslims would go away. I am an atheist, but teaching peace, love and understanding along with a good dose of tolerance makes sense to me, but maybe I'm just getting back to longhaired, dope smoking hippie roots. Peace, and remember, don't trust anyone over eighty.

the funny thing about this topic is how far apart people's beliefs are. for example, it sounds to me like you don't agree with anything rev wright had to say. some other people agree with what he said, but don't think a candidate should. I agree with a majority of what he said and I think that obama should have stood by him and his right to his opinions. Hagee thinks that god punished new orleans for having a gay pride parade, is that really better? I mean, I know that it is different, but is it better?
The difference is that Obama was a member of a church for 20 years that is centered on Black Liberaton Theology, a very divisive preaching. Obama cannot be an agent of positive change when he is a member of a church that perpetuates the idea that whites want to oppress blacks.

If McCain has been going to Hagee's church for 20 years and has been supporting an official doctrine of divissiveness, THEN McCain/Hagee is the same as Obama/Wright.

Opinions are one thing, and everyone needs to make their own choices.

But posters who cite "facts" that McCain and Obama are the same on this issue realy should back their "facts" up. Just because someone puts a non opinion in a blog doesn't make it true.

Pure garbage.

Tell the truth. You are --

a) pro-war
b) anti-abortion
c) a racist
d) all three

or a Hillary supporter.

You can't be objective.

Hagee is an idiot but I oppose McCain simply because he is a warmonger.

THAT is telling the truth.
