JetBlue Sued for Downgrading Passenger from Coach to Toilet

Gokhan Mutlu of New York was told by the pilot of a JetBlue airliner to "hang out in the bathroom" about 90 minutes into a San Diego to New York flight. Why? Because the flight attendant complained that the "jump seat" she was assigned was uncomfortable, according to a lawsuit filed last Friday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court.

It sounds like we have a person who should not have been on the plane feeling they were treated like crap, and we have an airline which is in some crap.

He had every right to be on the plane it was the flight attendant that screwed up. She gave up her seat. Too bad for her that she made a mistake.

If the stewardess HAD an assigned set and told him that she would sit in the Jump seat, then were was this assigned seat. I've seen flight attendants sitting in those jump seats....

Yep, it does sound like we have a person who should not have been on the plane in the first place.

And it was probably the flight attendant.

The first couple of sentences in, we read that "Because the flight attendant complained that the "jump seat" she was assigned was uncomfortable"....hello, beeyatch, this is part of your job to sit in that seat.

Do you think the piloit took the flight attendant's side because they had a 'thing' going on?
If that were the case, the two should have gone into the bathroom together to join the mile high club.

I can't believe how this man was treated. If the pilot had had any sense he would have told the flight attendant "too bad, you gave up your seat" and as far as the flight attendant goes, a decent person wouldn't have been OK with letting a man set it out in the toilet. She would have kept her uncomfortable jump seat and learned her lesson. People just don't care anymore.

Actually, if the plane was that crowded, he should not have been allowed on it.

Better to be pissed off than pissed on! But, I guess from this guy's flight, he got a bit of both!

However, in an effort to please passengers , the CEO of Jet Blue has now began offering free snorts of quality peruvian flake cocaine to all passengers on the South American Routes. The company will also now formally change its name to "JET BLOW"

It was those who filled the plane who made the mistake. Someone wasn't supposed to be boarded on that particular plane. It sounds like an error in ticketing or boarding. I didn't mean it to sound like he was a trouble maker or anything. Then what she and the pilot did compounded the problem. But the root issue was too many people on the plane and regulations that would not allow for one more.

But I don't see why my post was judged badly. Those who did that missed the humor or have a grudge out for me. All I can say is have fun and knock yourself out. One side felt like #2, and the other side is in #2.

maybe that guy should not have been on that flight but the fact remains, they let him on it then proceeded to treat him like crap. the captain was arrogant and rude to a passenger regardless of how he got a ticket and the cure for that is to hit them in their pockets.

My partner was a Flight attendant. This is how it works...A Buddy Pass is a free ticket that employees give to friends and fanily it is a real ticket with an assigned seat. Since this Flight Attendant had an assigned seat, she was not working, but also flying for free, otherwise she would be working and sitting in the jumpseat.

She must have taken pity on this guy and told him that she would take the jumpseat and he could have her seat because only airline employees are permitted to use the jumpseat.

Once she gave up her seat and they were in the air it's just too bad for her. The jump seat has a seat belt, the toilet does not. What they did was an FAA violation.

Why didn't the guy just take the jump seat? No one was using it, because the flight attendant was in his seat, and it had to be better than the toilet.

I don't disagree with that at all. The bait and switch is the bad part for the airline. This guy was promised a seat, even if by oversight, then it was taken from him in mid air with no recourse but the loo.

He was not allowed to sit there; regulations. She was allowed to sit there, but was not on duty and didn't feel it was comfortable. So she renigged on her offer to give up her assigned seat and sit in the jumpseat.
