U.S. to Halt Cremation of Troops at Animal Crematorium

How many of you have served as part of the funeral detail in a military funeral for a soldier killed in combat?

I have. You go through hours of training, you are graded. You receive instructions on how to deal with people breaking down, crying, reporters, demonstrators, etc.

At the funeral, a senior officer attends and you are graded afterwards. A senior officer or NCO is in constant attendance with the family.

This crematorium should have disclosed that it took animals before it tried to get a contract. The error was caught in time and corrective measures were taken.

Remember Larry Lawrence? Clinton had him buried in Arlington under a headstone which listed falsified service. The White House admitted they knew of the deception but didn't think it mattered because he was being buried as an ambassador. Clinton attended the Arlington service while the widow (40 years younger than Lawrence) made googly-eyes at Clinton.

Lawrence was removed from Arlington, at the family's request, not at Clinton's orders, when it was all revealed.

Back then, I suggested that Lawrence's plot be officially removed as being part of Arlington so no veteran would ever get a hand-me-down defiled grave from these creeps, and be used to bury dogs. Not military dogs, just strays.

Now I hear all the hollering about Bush treating our military dead like dogs. Clinton treated a con man with a half-a-hooker wife like an honored veteran.

I have been on the Honor Guard for 12 KIA Soldiers and 3 of theme where to be cremated. All 12 of these Soldier's families picked where these services are done at.

Our government sends them off to die in an obscene war and then we worry about what kind of crematorium was used to dispose of the body.

If you want to be outraged, be outraged at the fact that they are dying because of the incredible ineptness of our Excuetive Branch that continues a war with no clear objective or rational means of pursuing the war.

Be outraged at the President and not the simple bureaucrat who is doing the will of the elected officials and the conservative voter to do it on the cheap.

You're blaming the soldier and everyone else for the gov's decision. I'm with you on the war in Iraq, but I'm not going to disgrace a soldier and his family by cremating the soldiers body in the same unit stray dogs are placed into.

Now we can do that with Bush. But I'm sure the far right would think that cremating Bush's body in the local ASPCA cremation facility would be "disrespectful".

Is this story true? They cremated soldiers' bodies at a crematorium for animals? I haven't heard this anywhere on the news? What's the deal? Media, get on the ball, please! The public needs to know this, how our troops are really getting treated!

Ok, so lets not asume strays are cremated there. Lets assume its only well kept dogs who were once owned by wealthy royalty. And the dogs were "kept" better than you and I.

It was never done. There has not been one known US military member that this has happened to. They caught the problem and changed it. If you went to a doctor for a shot and he advertised that he his a human doctor and you got your shot and left. The next day you find out your co-worker takes his cat there for a shot, what would you do. Be mad that he misled you right. Same case only nobody even went there. Also like I said before, the family gets to pick either to have an establishment that they respect to do it or to have Uncle Sam do it. Either way the US still pays. Everything was disclosed.

As a veteran and family man I am not happy with the thought of either a serviceman/woman or any one of my family being treated in such a way. But, I am sure there are a lot more mitigating circumstances that we as the general populous will never know. In any event it has ALWAYS been the LEFT who wants to cut the military budget and spending. That being said I wouldn't be too horribly surprised if this wasn't the work of our amazing current speaker of the house and her cronies.
