And the late Russ Offhaus (WSKY's Farmer Russ) stole the scene from Mitchum as the obnoxious drunk in the scene filmed (if I'm not mistaken) in the old Sky Club on Beaucatcher Mountain.(Mitchum was not happy with being upstaged!)

Yes, it was the old Sky Club (now condos). I remember "Farmer Russ" from when I was a child and he did the early morning show on WLOS. How are you this morning Jessica? Hope things settle down here. Your sure could tell there was a full moon this weekend by the comments on the forum. Have a great day!

And a great day to you as well, Kat! Oh yeah, the moon was high and there was plenty of howling and baying going on!

I Googled "Farmer Russ", and this discussion came up. I have been chasing a trivia question about his show around for years with no luck. I am trying to find out the name and singer of one of his theme songs. I know "Carolina in the Morning" by Mitch Miller, but the other song I only know the words to. "I want to say hello, I want to see you smile, I want to hold you in my arms again" is all I know. I have over 5000 records and have searched for years for this recording. Help!!

Hi Darleanea,
I met your Grandfather in 1967 at a job fair at A.C. Reynolds High school. I never got a chance to ask him about the song. I called the radio station and no one there was old enough to have worked with him. He used to wake me for school running around the studio and yelling for everyone to get up.At least it sounded like he was running around.
"I want to say hello, I want to see you smile, I want to hold you in my arms again. I want to say the little things that I have said before, darling I can't live without you any more" that is about all I can remember. I hope your mom knows. It has been on my mind for years and I would love to hear it again.
Thanks,
Steve Wilson

I have hundreds. I need to speak with the 3 other Grandkids and my mother (the daughter of Farmer Russ) to get authorization. I also need to find a company who can take these reel tapes and convert them to cd's. I have kept them in a special storage case for preservation and thousands of photos. I will be in contact this week.

Thanks for all your trouble. I am sure a CD of his shows would sell great here in Asheville. I just noticed my posts have Pelzer S.C. on them. I have lived in Asheville all my life, so far. Not sure why they are tagged this way.

Hi Kathleen! Your dad was one of a kind, and I still miss him. You probably wouldn't remember me, but I worked with your mother many moons ago. I've still got Russ's centerfold spread...it's an heirloom now. LOL

Good to hear from you.

Hey Mom! Everyone loved Grandfather! I am quickly learning what a funny man he was. The pictures are funny enough but do no justice to his funny man attitude. Please let me know if you want me to put a couple of the pictures up.
***Also to the inquiry above***
My grandfather "Farmer Russ" was on Station WCOP with "Uncle Mort" 7am to 8am Daily. I am not sure of the year.
For any recordings as indicated above my mother (his daughter) Kathleen would have to authorize any release as the rights to these all including photos are hers.

I remember Russ coming in to Dr. Schandler's office on Merrimon and the nurse's getting him to sign copies of the Native Stone with his centerfold!

Daily Horoscope for November 23

Pisces

Others may think you are in fairy land as the dreamy Moon joins fanciful Neptune in your twelfth house of secrets. Go ahead and let your imagination run wild, but don't allow unfounded fears to paralyse you. This is a good day for dreaming about the future and visualizing where you want to be in the coming days. Allow yourself to drift a bit on this somewhat lazy day.
