Santana weaves his hits into percussion-heavy jam

Later this year, Latin rock icon Carlos Santana will release a new covers album with his takes on rock-radio hits, including Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Def Leppard's "Photograph," with guest vocalists such as Chris Daughtry and that guy from Papa Roach. Read more

I thought the so called "jerks in the crowd" were right to boo. Santana is a great musician but the political commentary was not what I paid to hear.

Can't even read a music review of a wonderful, peaceful man without a Teabagger dropping a turd in the pool. Stay home and listen to Rush Limbaugh next time "Take a Wiz."

Did I have quote in the review? Slandering someone because you disagree. Now that's Sad.

The booing in the crowd was not because of the rambiling monologue about peace and harmony. It was for his political views of our current and past presidents. Leave it on the tour bus.

I was at this one. In spite of the usual game playing of limited lights and PA for the first band, Steve Winwood was great.
Santana, on the other hand, was very disappointing. His rambling go nowhere solos were painfully boring. Vocals belonged in a Los Vegas lounge.
The political diatribes were ridiculously sophmoric and mean sprited.
I am a former Santana fan.

But it's ok for you to comment because you didn't agree with Santana exercising his right to free speech? Interesting.

Glad you find it interesting.
I wrote nothing about agreeing, or disagreeing with exercise of free speech.
I wrote "The political diatribes were ridiculously sophmoric and mean spirited".
This is my opinion. He was afforded the luxury of speaking his opinion through a large PA system.
Winwood was great, as always. Santana was not.

I do have to agree that Winwood ROCKED!! He was worth the price of admission. Excellent performance of Low Spark and all of the other great hits he chose to do.

I didn't personally think Santana's comments were mean spirited at all. I just think he's still being a (now older) hippy.

Still, I enjoyed seeing both Santana and Winwood. Both are music legends.

When you fall into the.."my take on other band hits"..the game has been over for a LONG time.

He`s a "has-been", and he is proving it now. To be honest, he was not all that good to begin with. Well, OK I give his first album a star, but the rest went right down hill after that and Woodstock. He`s been living on his woodstock reputation far to long.
