Has anyone given any consideration to the enormous budgets these actors' films get? Of course their gross earnings are smaller because it's hard to make back a huge budget at the box office anyway.

And "Lions for Lambs" was released through Cruise's United Artists. It was more of an independent film.

Why isn't George Clooney on this list? He's paid a huge amount of money and his films although critically acclaimed don't do that well at the box office. And Hollywood wonders why people don't want to go the movies any more and we wonder why the writers are on strike!

Seems like all those actors are still pulling in the bucks for their studios. For every dollar they make they are returning $5-11. Wouldn't we all like to have something that generates a return like that?! And apparently that is after expenses if they are deducting out the budget expenses first.

The Forbes story was news when it first appeared back in early August. Over 4 months ago! Talk about moldy! Who dredged up this ancient tidbit for you, World Entertainment News (WENN)?

Figures. The worst of the worst sources for entertainment news. You should be ashamed to rely on their antique, frequently-fabricated, always-overblown stories.

Ugh.

I agree with the list. These people have egos the size of California.

Russell Crowe is worth every penny. He's enormously talented and difficult to work with solely because he's a professional who expects everybody else working with him to be equally professional. His intensity makes him misunderstood, and his role-preparation makes him one of the best method actors around today. Most actors these days have no clue what Stanislavski's method was all about and how to prepare for a role in the Method properly. Crowe does understand what it takes to be a method
Actor, and if his co-stars can't ahndle it, they should pick other films to be in. Genius is frequently misunderstood, and geniuses are difficult to work with because they are single-minded, but that's what makes them so valuable.

The actors salaries ARE part of the budget. They are figured in at the beginning. But ck out the director's and producers salaries. They top the stars' salaries. That's where alot of the money goes plus they get a say in how a film is made. An actor is told what to do whereas the director and producer& executive producer get the Most money AND get to have their say.
So, which job is better...the big guys making the bigger bucks behind the scenes, or the stars who make the big salaries that get dumped on by shallow consumers who don't have a clue how the industry works?
The star's salaries have gone up because the stars got smart and less controlled since the 20's and 30's. Back then, even as late as the 60's and 70's, the stars made pathetic salaries while the studio heads raked it in.
A 'star' is a product. And the more a product is in demand the higher the price for it goes.
How much are you worth? Guess there isn't any demand for you like there is for Russell Crowe and George Clooney. And that's why you don't make as much money as they do. So put the petty jealousy aside and drop the catty comments.
