The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. The inductees reflect the listening tastes of the review board, not the actual accomplishments of the bands. And I'd LOVE to hear why the review board doesn't consist of actual musicians. RunDMC is in, with one recognizable hit, but Kiss, Rush, and Alice Cooper are not? Very difficult to give the RRHoF any credibility or respectibility when it fails to pass basic common sense.

RUN DMC? Sure, why not. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five deserved the honor as breaking New York hip-hop to a wider audience and doing some of the best social commentary of the early, recession Reagan era. And cool party jams. RUN DMC was "groundbreaking" in being popular with gear close to street clothes "like they just came off the street onto the stage" and weaving in rock songs to popular effect... not as good and minimalist as early Cool J did IMHO. I can think of other artists' rap songs released during RUN DMC's era that were better. RUN DMC, heralded as "groundbreaking" in part because they reached a mass audience for longevity. Public Enemy is due for a HOF entrance next, as the best group in rap and best of a generation IMHO. They say RUN DMC is the best, so I'll take their word for it, lol, and say kudos to RUN DMC and RIP Jam Master Jay.

Everyone save their vitriol; the HOF stopped being relevant about 5 years after Rolling Stone magazine did. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five make it in before Jeff Beck???
Would've been more appropriate to name it "Jann S. Wenner's Popularity Contest" but that wouldn't fit on the logo.

The RRHF is waste of time. Metallica before, Yes, Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, Rush? Please. To quote former A's pitcher Dave Stewart, James Hetfield couldn't carry Robert Fripp's jock. But I'll give you Jeff Beck.

It's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in name only.

Look at some of the inductees, they should really change the name to something like the Pop Music Hall of Fame or Forced diversity Music Hall of Fame

Who votes for inductees? I cannot believe a band like Run DMC is getting inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame and Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer aren't? Very weak selection overall this year.

So true, and that one recognizable hit was a cover! Jeff Beck, okay--but I'm done watching--not until they go back to inducting actual R&R bands/artists--this is pathetic!

I could have sworn the Stooges were recently inducted--or perhaps it was just Iggy---and if not, I agree with you!!

Congratulations to Rev Run and them. Too bad Jay didn't make it to see this day.
And for all the haters, get over it. It's a popularity contest that means nothing. All hall of fames are a joke. Bert Blyleven's been up for baseball's HOF 12 times and not gotten in, and he was arguably the best pitcher of his time. Who cares?

Rush Yes and Genesis were some of the worst bands to ever be labeled Rock and Roll. Run DMC carry on the spirit of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis far more than any of those overblown, overproduced, drum solo bands.

Its all bogus, just like footballs hall of fame or shame. Why are some of these bands in there not even close to being a rock band?

If you are calling Rush 'overproduced', you obviously have never listened to them, thus have no credibility. Rush is one of the most talented bands ever to take the stage and never received (nor wanted) any accolades. Class band all around...As for Metallica, at least they keep reinventing themselves. Run-DMC??? I don't get it...They should send Aerosmith a bottle of something for making them appearently relevant.

Wasn't Madonna voted in recently? There's some real raw unproduced music for ya. Rush, Gensis and Yes were far from over produced. All they did was play their assess off. Musicians that can actaully play. There's a concept.

Run DMC? What instruments do they play? Oh, right...they don't.
They are not musicians, certainly not "Rock and Roll". Then again, they let that NTAC Madonna in as well...The RRHOF is a joke of an institution...not worth paying attention to.

Remove, Jann S. Wenner from any say so, he has no right to decide who belongs and who doesn't.
What he did to the Dave Clark five and Black Sabbath is unforgivable.

Wow. You must be on the voting board for the RRHOF. Is you real name Jann Wenner?

Your statement is probably one of the more ignorant ones that I have read in quite some time. It's fine that you don't care for those bands mentioned, however it's sad that you can't understand those artists' contribution to music in general.
