The Root: Why Few Support Obama's Libyan Mission

There are 17 comments on the WNYC-AM New York story from Mar 28, 2011, titled The Root: Why Few Support Obama's Libyan Mission. In it, WNYC-AM New York reports that:

With all the flak Obama was taking a week ago for his go-slow approach on Libya - and all the phony bouquets for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of the crisis - you might have been tempted to think that she was the one who had green-lighted missile strikes on Moammar Gadhafi, and Obama was the senator who had once voted to invade Iraq ...

I never thought I would support President Obama but who would have thought that he would make the choice to force America into another WAR??

I love this guy. The Market can only thrive during War and my personal holdings will become ever more valuable as he forces the taxpayers to borrow billion and billions more for munitions.

What a difference a couple of Weeks make. Obama, the War Monger. EVERYONE at the Country Club yesterday now LOVEs this guy.

This should show us one thing, above all else. The non elected military industrial people hold way too much power in government. Instead of different solutions, they have one solution. All they want to do is play with their new toys and kill people.

Want to cut the budget, start by cutting the military by 50%.

Now that Obama and Clinton have again validated undefined rebellions taking over cities by force of guns and murder, no one should complain when some armed groups in America take over some cities and proclaim independence from Federal autonomy. Rochester is no longer just a black man on the Benny show!

Samantha Powers will advise Barry to have the UN intervene, declare Marshall Law, and abolish the 2nd Amendment.

Methinks you mean Martial Law.

If the armed groups were al Queerda, Barry would probably support it in some way and use UN/NATO planes to support them... just as he's doing in Libya.

Well I also got tricked into voting for Obama. But the demented Cain was very clear about his support of our CONSTANT ORWELLIAN WAR and for the next few DECADES!

He's was so stupid as to admit that he bought the entire anti-Christ insanity of WAR FOREVER!

So, what choice? Obama was obviously stupid, but I hoped he would be a dark horse like JFK eventually became.

No luck there, that's for sure. Same old same old.

However, now Americans have the net. The only source of free exchange of ideas.

Marxists HATE the net.

Now the Marxist Obama is beginning to sense the power of a free net.

True democracy really sucks for Marxists, when they can't control the behind the scenes wire pulling.

Oops ur right. He will, but not Syria, although more civilians have been killed there than Libya, Iran being their ally might have something to do with that. Frankly it's all BS. Democrat or Republican doesn't matter it's once again about the oil. T.Boone Pickens, several days ago stated that Libyan oil was known as sweet oil because of its exceptional quality???

Obama is a fool, and that speech was a joke! His chances of being re-elected now are less than zero.

This little war can only be associated as a "Community Organizing Action" at best. What did we really expect from a guy who never ran anything much less the "Greatest Country" in the world. Did we really think he wouldn't screw up. Now after all the bombs fall ( of which he refuses to call a war) he backs off, says that regime change wasn't the goal (Like hell it wasn't). That nut Qaddafi could still be left in power. What a Freakin Waste ! But here again it was on Obama's dime, it was the American people who will have to foot this bill along with stirring up the ants again. I'm still waiting to hear exaclty what threat Lybia posed to the United States, and give this crap about "Responsibility to the World" Oh Please ! Who made us the "World Policeman" ?

Think of Obama as your classic 18th/19th century imperialist. He has NATO ruthlessly bombing civilians in Libya. Recent administrations have steered clear of situations like Rwanda and Darfur yet Barack Obama seems to wish the re-establishment of European colonial rule over Africa.

Does he even know what century this is?

Exactly! If they really wanted to stop the bloodshed and protect the Libyan civilians, they wouldn't be shooting bombs and rockets into the country and trying to motivate and now possibly even arm the revolutionaries! You want peace? Establish a buffer zone by drawing a line in the sand to keep the warring factions apart, and begin to resolve these issues through diplomatic means instead of more violence and bloodshed.
