I will go easy on you since you have no clue on how maquila's work in poor country's. Financially poor countrys can keep labor cost very low which usually accounts to 70-80 % of a buisnesses overall cost. Although these wages are terrible and unlivable to a rich nation, in a poor nation it is the diffrence between starving and eating with a roof over your head. If country's demand higher wages then the maquila's will go to another poor country. Look at China, they started out mainly as a maquila naton , but have invested wisely and are now going to be an economic super power. If you want to blame someone for mejicos poverty, blame its government and ultimatly its people who elect their government.

Maquila owners and other organizers are willing to spend millions of dollars in this event, but aren't able to provide the Juarez people decent job salaries.
I don't think Maquila workers enjoy riding to work on a 1973 school bus everyday...makes them easy to recruit with the cartels don't you think?
food for thought...

Gorbachev who is NOT retired but still working full time--just in another country--the USA-- is putting his nose in our business--recalling the 1917 vision of the Virgin Mary who stated that if Russia did not convert-- she (Russia) would spread her errors thru out the world.
What is Gorbachev up to that he would want to come to the most murderist city in the world?
What designs does he have up his sleeves?--what ever happens across the border will definitely have an impact in El Paso.
And what business is it of his anyway?

What a target of opportunity for the cartels. I wonder who they will actually target, gorbachev or giuliani? Or maybe this is a plan by the U.S. to actually enter into mexihole after one of these has been assassinated by the cartels. I feel another war coming.

If he does maybe you can ask your mom to take a minute off from work to get you his autograph? Even better, maybe he can autograph the condom he uses on her?

Gorbachev, probably doesn't believe HOW BAD IT REALLY IS IN JUAREZ. Heaven forbid something happen to him, or Giuliani. Who is going to compensate them for risking their lives to visit the #1 most dangerous and most murderous city in the world?

You scold Russian mafia. And this is no longer the Russian mafia, but the U.S mafia . All the Russian mafia, which appeared during the collapse of the Soviet Union, Putin kicked out of Russia. Now we clean. And you do the opposite. Why the U.S. is offended after you've been dreaming about the collapse of the Soviet Union?

Jokes aside, This will be a moment to listen to
what he says or proposes.

Look for Mexican security to be as never before
with possibly a meeting with Mr. Calderon, mayor,
and other important political people.

This will be interesting.

How did the Juarez people pull off getting such a well
known figure in history. A man who changed with the times
while watching the old Soviet Union fall such as it did.

Most of us will pay attention to events planned in Juarez.

Don't expect change because this is a countrywide problem
with "Corruption."

More than likely he was asked if he wanted to be a guest. And believing security will be very tight, he accepted. He doesn't have to have any tricks up his sleeve. It's the cartels we need to watch closely those days not Gorbachev. They may want to make Juarez look so bad because they want to run the city completely that they just may try to cause chaos, which would be the worse that could happen to both sides of the border.

Gorbachev will be just fine.....unless he wants to swipe a key of cocaine and then all hell will break loose....'cause that is all the cartels and federal and local police protect....
