Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water....
That was one scary movie which made for a scary summer on Long Island beaches.
My condolences to the family. Thanks, Roy!

After reading it, I was like...that was the weirdest announcement of anyone's death I ever read...He had a 5 bedroom house on 1 acre of oceanfront with 4 fireplaces!!
With all the cutbacks at Newsday, I think the janitor was the only guy left in the building and they had him cut and paste the article together and post it.

This post will make no sense to anyone who reads the aticle after this post. The article was just updated and they added alot and took out the part describing his Sagaponock house.

Yeah I missed that guess they editted after it went to print. Now it looks like a combo obit/movie review, there was no need to write how the movie was reviewed, THE MAN IS DEAD. Geez. Gene learn how to write a respectful obit!

He had just sold his house to Billy Joel a couple of months ago and was renovating a new one out east. Such a shame.

Newsday embarrasses me. meaning this is our paper. The writing, in particular the sentence structure and the content of so many of their stories is ridiculous.

I was 10 when that movie came out. A very impressionable age. I wouldn't go into the water for the rest of the summer.
Scared the be-jesus out of me.

There should be a statue erected of
"Chief Brody" somewhere on the south shore, preferably Jones Beach, where he can be eternally vigilant watching for sharks...
