Although we're all allowed our own opinions, the overall assumption that the country's current economic condition is solely Obama's doing and that things should have turned around already are two of many erroneous allegations put foward in this letter. The economy is like a lumbering ocean liner that requires time and a lot of space to change direction. To expect that in the course of under 2 years this administration could have turned the recession/depression around and return the country to full employment is a fantasy. One needs to remember that it was President Reagan's trickle down economics that began the greatest shift of wealth in history to an elite small percentage of the population while wages have remained stagnant for decadres. To wish for this again is economic suicide. Unfortunately, the only body that is able and willing to spend at this time is the government, with private industry sitting on large sums of money but no demand for their products. To return to the "free market" as we know it likely will only perpetuate more of the same: high salaries for CEOs and low wages for the workers. Is this what we want? Cutting taxes has never benefited the economy, and if anything, higher taxes in the past has benefited. Unfortunately, tax increases will be necessary to get us out of this mess. The concept of cutting services at this time shows total lack of empathy for fellow Americans who are in dire straights although this has been and will continue to be the mantra of the conservative right.

Are you kidding? Obama has stepped up enforcement and deportations.( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/... )

Reagan supported an amnesty plan.( http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php... )

If an illegal alien is beating you out for a job, you clearly need to have a more marketable skill. I'm pretty sure we don't have an influx of illegal alien doctors, lawyers, receptionists, teachers, etc. And when farm jobs open, Americans don't take them.
