GOP: No Longer the 'Party of Eisenhower and Reagan'

There are 12 comments on the www.theatlantic.com story from Jan 14, 2013, titled GOP: No Longer the 'Party of Eisenhower and Reagan'. In it, www.theatlantic.com reports that:

Republican opposition to defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel reveals just how far the party's thinking has drifted on foreign policy.

With exit polls showing that the country trusted him more to conduct U.S. foreign policy than his rival, Mitt Romney, Barack Obama set off a round of commentary about how the GOP could regain its advantage. His nominee for defense secretary, moderate Republican Chuck Hagel, has re-energized that debate [disclosure: Hagel is chairman of the Atlantic Council, the author's employer].

Both Republicans and Democrats are no longer the Parties they used to be. Both are controlled by special interests through the use of campaign contributions. Aka bribes and payoffs.

Call any of your representatives. Does not matter which party they are in. Either one, go ahead, pick up the phone and call.

I will put money down you get a staffer or a pre-recorded message. You will get the run around and the typical response "the representative understands your concern and is working towards that goal." You will get nothing more than mouth service.

Then call again, but, this time tell the staffer you have a contribution of $10k to the Super PAC. And watch the sorry son of a bitch show up at your doorstep.

It does matter, but not that much. One party believes the American midddle class brings prosperity; and the other wishes to create a two class socity, a feudalism with mobility.

Other than that, they are two sides of the same coin.
