Good! More power to these dads! There are millions of heartbroken adults, like me, across the country whose divorced dads did not take responsibility after the divorce and we are broken as a society as a result. It wasn't just due to the courts. It was due to the idea of young kids cramping the lifestyle of men who wanted to be footloose and fancy free, or men who'd had it w/ the kids' mothers and didn't want to suffer through dealing w/ her to see the kids. It takes patience, perseverance and sacrifice to be a good parent, even more when one has to make the effort not being under the same roof.
Thank you

I am a single dad -- who for work has to be away from his child a lot -- and I want to thank the columnist for acknowledging that there are many of us whose marriages didn't work but whose love for their children didn't diminish one bit.

Thank you for writing a story about us - the majority of divorced fathers who struggle to be a daily presence in their children's lives. I come from Massachusetts the state with the most out dated and stereotyped view of fathers. It is a huge struggle here for fathers to get regular access to their own children.

Thank you for writing a positive article about us. I recognize myself and so many other men I know in your story.

Thank you.

Good column. Everyone wins when kids get post-divorce contact with both parents. It took some doing to stop a needless move-away, and my daughter benefited from shared custody for 13 years. Now at 18, she is close to me and her mom.

Thank God these Dads were given fair treatment in the system so they CAN be in their child's life. Most fathers are never allowed even their meager visitation granted by the courts, but are instead persecuted and thrown aside, to the great detriment of their children.
