Concert Review: Legendary AC/DC taps its inner devil at the Don...

Full story: El Paso Times

The blinking red devil's horns were visible all over the Don Haskins Center Sunday night when the lights went dark before AC/DC took the stage.

Si no te gusta, no vallas baboso. I took my son to see AC/DC in Austin last week and we had a blast. That was one of the best shows I've ever seen and I've seen Kiss, Pink Floyd, The Stones, Judas Priest, Springsteen, The Who, Genesis, Kansas, Styx, Boston, Ozzy, Sabbath, Rush, etc. That was some good chit.

Yeah right- You would prefer to go to a concert where they play drug dealer music.... Mexican music has got to be the worst. PERIOD.

Thank goodness. it was refreshing to see a REAL band finally come into town.

This guy is probably a taco hat, wicked witch of the west looking boots, and dances those weird ass dances in which he dances all by himself throwing his arms around. Weirdo..........

glad to hear it was sold out - hopefully, it will encourage more great groups to come thru our town

THIS CONCERT TOPS EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER DONE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. SUPER FANTASTIC FOR ME, 15 AND MY LITTLE SISTER, 6. WE BOTH ROCKED AND HEAD BANGED THROUGH THE ENTIRE THING. KID FRIENDLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ABOUT 3 OR SO THINGS. BEGINNING VIDEO, ROSIE'S BIG TITS, AND THE OVEREXCITED FEMALE FAN. eXCELLENT JOB!!!! STILL KICKING MAJOR BOOTY AT 54

The music started out great. Visually, it was the best I've ever seen. But about halfway through the program, the music started to sound muffled or out of key. During Hell's Bells, the guitars just didn't sound right. I thought they were playing the wrong notes or chords. Maybe it was just too loud. I didn't get to enjoy "Whole Lotta Rosie", my favorite song, because of that also.
But it WAS AC/DC, so just having them here in El Paso was mind-blowing.

I waited twenty years for this experience and it was exciting, energetic, thundering and real earth-shattering rock and roll with no dub-overs, no lip-sync and no funny custumes. The near 10,000 of us fans got a night to remember from fantastically skilled musicians and a decade of flat out getting down with the exhilirating music. These type of experiences enable one to take a breather from the difficult times of reality and touch base with the exceptional moments of our psyche that just plain feel soooo goood; a reminder that all is needed to reach the mental summit of pleasure is one's own L-dopamine being released at a dizzying pace
for over two hours of lightning stimulation and the surrounding galvanization.
At age 75, I have been blessed to have witnessed Elvis three times, Neil Diamond twice, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Air Supply, Dean Martin, Rod Stewart, Eddie Raven, Eddie Rabbitt, Garth Brooks (twice), Kenney Chesney, The Bellamy Brother's and a host of other great entertainers. To catch this fantastic AC/DC concert at my age was simply icing on the cake.

I have also had the honor of attending concerts by the incomparable Reba McIntyre (twice), the most classic of all female singers, Rocio Durcal (3 times), Tom Jones, the sensuous Bluegrass singer Alison Kraus,George Strait, Faith Hill, and Keith Urban and the singer with the sweetest love song vocals I have ever heard, Englebert Humperdinck; When you are feeling amorous just dance to his music and share your love with your best sweetie. The list goes on and on and after just witnessing the stunning show by AC/DC, I plan on being around far beyond my 75 years to fire up the old juices again and again.

By the way, the opening band was named Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights, who's sound was reminiscent of early Black Crowes. As far as AC/DC, I think it's one of the best live shows I have ever seen! Many times live performances from bands are not good because everyone expects CD quality sound and everything perfect. AC/DC did not disappoint. Just plain awesome! It's just awesome to see these guys still rockin' into their 50's.

LAST I HEARD NONE OF THOSE NEW TACO HAT BANDS HAVE THE SAME LONG STORIED LEGENDARY CAREER AS AC/DC . PLEASE DON'T COMPARE THOSE JUNIOR VARSITY LEVEL BANDS TO ARGUABLY ONE OF THE TOP 10 BANDS OF ALL TIME. WORLD WIDE THERE LIKE GODS. IF I WAS YOU I WOULD TAKE MY TACO HAT OFF AND RESPECTFULLY TIP MY HAT TO THE LEGENDS OF ROCK AC /DC

Great concert! They also forgot to mention that 99 percent of the crowd was on their feet for the whole concert!

I saw AC DC in 1979 at the El Paso Coliseum, with Bon Scott on vocals. They were touring the "Highway to Hell" release. Molly Hatchet opened the show. I was right at the front of the stage; I could literally reach out and touch Angus, but he played so manically (his head bobbing up and down, eyes rolled back, hammering his Gibson SG) I dared not touch the dude. By the end of the show he had scratches all over his legs from sliding across the stage. For the encore, Angus Young carried Bon Scott through the crowd (on his shoulders) while playing the guitar. Oh yeah, great memory.
I am glad they still rock.

Sorry: it was Bon Scott carrying Angus through the crowd now that I think of it.

The concert was fantastic, however at the east entrance just before the doors opened my wife and I watched a few drug deals go down, one to a young woman not three feet from me. The young drug dealer's were having a field day with those who for whatever unsound reasoning felt the need to get an artificial high when it was totally uneccesary. After all, if you can't get high on Ac/Dc and their rocking, you need help.
Oh, a few policemen were less than ten feet from some of the drug deals going down. All they had to do was watch the high-fivin'and the package/$$$ tranfers. I mean it was just wide throttle open.
I am certainly happy that only a few misfits had drugs in their systems and in our area section 'V' there was some marijuana issues by one culprit. But for the most part, everything was good and mosfans enjoyed the show...no problems.

My ears are still ringing!!!

Could be permanent hearing damage - worth it!

Wish they had played Sin City and Jailbreak, two of my favorite AC/DC songs. Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be was a surprise though.

Easily the best show I've seen come through here in a long, long time! Not sure even Metallica could top last night's show.

What an awesome 1st concert for my son! He was the one dressed like Angus (his idea) and we had a great time. Thanks to all the great people who helped us "out of towners" with directions and showed us a great time!

ACDC is without a doubt the best there is!

Wished they played Sink the Pink or Who Made Who...small gripes from a great show
