Occupy Wall Street: 'Protest Chaplains' Shepherd Movement's Spiritual Side

There are 87 comments on the www.huffingtonpost.com story from Oct 27, 2011, titled Occupy Wall Street: 'Protest Chaplains' Shepherd Movement's Spiritual Side. In it, www.huffingtonpost.com reports that:

As waves of demonstrators descended on New York City to protest corporate greed, they were met by typical sounds of raucous youth-led protests: drum beats, police sirens and shouted political slogans.

They didn't expect to hear hymns.

Yet protestors rounding the corner of Zuccotti Park encountered dozens of white-robed worshipers singing spirituals and blessing the demonstrators while holding signs reading "Blessed are the poor" and brandishing handmade Christian crosses.

"Interfaith activities are increasingly the norm for the Occupy movement. Organizers of the "Occupy Boston" tent community partnered with the Protest Chaplains to erect a "Faith and Spirituality" tent in early October. The tent hosts yoga workshops, Muslim prayer celebrations and even a Yom Kippur service that drew more than 125 Jewish attendees."

I was surprised to read that there are a variety of faiths getting involved here. Interesting take on the movement.

The same old Marxist tactic of co-opting everyone else's religion and culture as a mask.

They soon learn the hard way that no one buys their act when they show who they really are.

"Professor" Elizabeth Warren backs occupy Wall Street.
She also took money from General Electric the company that is making the wind turbines for Massachusetts -

" Professor" Elizabeth Warren was paid almost $200,000 by a major insurance company to help in their legal battle against asbestos victims and that was on top of her $350,000 salary at Harvard that same year !

Elizabeth understands how " Blue Collar " worhers out of work for the last two years feel !

Harvard University backs First Wind a commercial wind turbine company !

Elizabeth Warren wants all the hicks from South Boston to vote for her ?

How is she not a professor? Is she paid by a university or not?

All the money and wealthy people who are supporting this 'movement' should be funneling their money to create jobs instead of sitting on their butts blocking traffic.

Sure, in some places restaurants donate food at the end of the day, so some drunken bum is eating duck a l'orange while the hard working fools sit down to hamburger helper.

I am wondering do liberal, socialist societies create a bad environment for the middle class and working poor? I think of liberal ideas as being full of goodwill and unexpected outcomes.

My neighbor had some Swedish relatives visit, they were giving up on Sweden, said one worked and worked but did not get to keep any of the money.

A tourist article said that Norway was a fine place to live, but a sandwich cost a small fortune.

The US is always full of cheap work. Drivers of all kinds of vehicles, farm workers, there is a shortage of nurses and skilled labor.

I think of northern states like Vermont as consisting of college professors and service people. The southern and western states, more conservative places, seem teeming with cheap work.

Hope those wind turbine energy systems don't give us 2,000 tornadoes instead of 1,000.

I'm sure they would be more than willing to switch places with you anytime you're ready, since you think the homeless have it so good.
