I was a sailor first, I sailed the sea
Then I got a job, in a factory
Played Butlin’s Camp with my friend, Rory
It was good for him, it was great for me

Livepool I left you, said goodbye to Madryn Street
I always followed my heart, and I never missed a beat
Destiny was calling, I just couldn’t stick around
Liverpool I left you, but I never let you down

Went to Hamburg, the red lights were on
With George and Paul, and my friend John
We rocked all night, we all looked tough
We didn’t have much, but we had enough

Livepool I left you, said ‘goodbye’ to Madryn Street
I always followed my heart, and I never missed a beat
Destiny was calling, I just couldn’t stick around
Liverpool I left you, but I never let you down

In the U.S.A, when we played Shea
We were number 1, and it was fun
When I look back, it sure was cool
For those 4 boys from Liverpool

Livepool I left you, said goodbye to Admiral Grove
I always followed my heart, so I took it on the road
Destiny was calling, I just couldn’t stick around
Liverpool I left you, but I never let you down

La la la la la la …. Liverpool …

Well done Ringo, not a nice word to say,no matter where your from be it Liverpool,Manchester or London, surely there must be more to say!Being a Scouser there are elements of my city that make me sick, like all big European cities, but i am so proud to say i am from Liverpool, and will always live here, not like the Beatles,he is a disgrace, who cant sing, what about that accent!,hope nobody buys his new rubbish album,Liverpool08,dont make me laugh!

Ringo is portraying the thoughts of many of us that have left our homeland. We are deep. There will always be a place in my heart for you Liverpool.

If this be the lyrics from a life, it is a pretty unfulfilled life, and certainly doesn't do justice to the crafting from the other three "mop-tops!" One street, no bull ring, no reference to the Cavern, no auntie, no cuppas, no Lime Street Station, no Aintree ... And what about Gerry's garage on the outskirts of the City -- he pumps the petrol himself --, not far from the grand River and the Liva Building he had sung about, he too arousing girls all the way to Birkenhead. But for a representation here and a well-timed tune there, good or bad fortune goes. Ringo, the heart of the Beatles, well, if you believe that, there's a bridge over instead of a tunnel through the Mersey you might like to consider buying.

I've seen alot of people say that there was alot of stuff missing from this song, so:

1) This song is about him, not the whole group.

2) Unless the song was over 30 minutes long, this was all he could fit into a descent sized song

Ringo did a great job writing this song and has a great voice, better than alot of artists today.
