I am beginning a search to find out just when the series will be aired, and also how to buy a copy, as I was in the remake as one of the dead townspeople this July in Hedley, B.C.

The original movie went along for two hours with mostly standard routines among the characters, and the only thrills came in the final minutes as the Strain mutated and started to escape into the underground secure facility.
The efforts of the scientists to stop the automatic nuclear destruction sequence was essentially the climax, and I cannot imagine watching FOUR HOURS of routine stuff among the scientific team, just to get to this point.
(and knowing for sure in advance that the nuke is going to be prevented anyway).

Andromeda strain shouldn't be adapted into mini-series format, it should be a feature length film, and cause an influx of intelligence into the mainstream.

I watched A&E's Andromeda Strain last night and it's been a long time since I've seen a movie produced with such poor acting, such poor re-writing, and such poor directing. What an insult to Michael Crichton! If that's all the better they can do with a rather interesting plot, they may want to just stick with re-running original movies.

Sad that such a creative book and movie from 30 years ago got such a poor reincarnation, complete with government conspiracies and environmental waco messages. And what the hell was that ending all about? The government stockpiling the virus on the space station?
Again, let me say the original is available, 1/2 the time, and incomparably better.
