I've been reading with interest on another forum of how they feel Richard's perceives his fans.

1) Do you think he appreciates us. And if so, what makes you come to this conclusion?

When Richard is interviewed, particularly for magazines etc., his interviewer always seem to make fun of us thinking that we are all drooling idiots.

2) Do you think Richard feels the same way and consequently wishes that we would sometimes disappear so that he can be taken seriously ?

3) Or do you think that Richard couldn't care less one way or the other about his fans as now he's getting popular he doesn't need us anymore?

I'd love to know what you think?

Jade, I think RA very much appreciates his fans and I think in interviews he is rather proud of the "Armitage Army". He certainly needs his fans, every star does. Every actor must feel massively pleased when fans want to meet them, get them to sign autographs, show interest in them, I mean it is only human to like being liked and it is very flattering. There is the downside as some fans can become obsessive about the person, and it is something that goes along with being famous. I met Matthew Macfadyen once when he was appearing on the London stage, got his autograph and then that was that. I was quite satisfied to have met a nice, courteous young man and to compliment him on his work. However I perceived some fans were shall we say over-enthusiastic. That must be a little irritating to the star to say the least. One thing, it is good that RA has withdrawn a little from the fansite, he shouldn't get too close IMHO. Gives some fans the wrong impression, they think they can get close to the person and of course they can't. I think RA absolutely loves his fans and is very grateful for their support.

May,

I absolutely agree with all that you say.

I would just like to add that I think the fans do sometimes imagine themselves to be more important than we actually are!

I'm sure when Richard was just trying to make a name for himself he found it lovely to get some feedback and encouragement. Although I feel that every star must have to put on a smiley face and sign autographs when they are feeling a little tired and fed up after a hard day's work, and yet he is consistently patient and kind when signing autographs. I recently saw that an American fan went on the Spooks set and had a pic taken with Richard and he was happy to pose with her. I think he is much more patient and understanding than many other celebs are and that can be put down to the type of person he is and I don't think this will ever change.

The fact that Richard feels the need to explain and defend himself saddens me.

Oh don't worry Heather, Jonathan Ross ridiculed Darcylicious at the BAFTAs in front of Brangelina, Kate Winslett the lot! Luckily the fansite concerned took it as a compliment (unbelievably).

Message to RA's staff "Never complain, never explain", especially about the British Press, they have long memories!

If he didnīt care about his fans, he wouldnīt have sent the message.
