As the Fox tries hard to position itself as 'victim'. Kiel Opera House was 'bond and gagged' 19 years ago, not the Fox. Kiel Opera House was stripped of a lot of the people's properties, not the Fox. Kiel was threatened with gutting, not the Fox. Kiel has been silent for nearly 2 decades, not the Fox.

The Fox has benefited from a great deal of financial help from the City and certainly
from the $87 million grand center TIF. I don't believe the Fox has ever paid the ticket tax, or if it has, it still keeps something out of every admission for 'preservation and upkeep'.

Kiel is not a 'venue'. It is one of the finest and most historic downtown performing
arts center in America. Its main theater was built to the size and quality of the Metropolitan Opera House. As such, she will vastly improve our downtown,
bring back our civic center and pour people back into St. Louis who have not
been here in years. Simultaneous events, under one roof, downtown.

Kiel is what convention, group travel and travel for entertainment decision-
makers want to see in downtowns. Very high up the list. Higher than sports
or casinos.

Mr. Checkett's team had to endure nearly an hour of Mr. Baker's objections in the Kennedy room of City Hall. They were very patient.

In terms of use of public money or tax breaks, the old Post Office received
$127 million in tax credits alone and generates no revenue. Kiel will generate a great deal of revenue on property-most of it is taxed, and off property-hotels, motels, and restaurants. The 800 jobs is just the start.

People from 887 cities went to Dallas Nov-January to celebrate/experience
the opening of AT and T Center for Performing Arts. People from 1,000 cities
will come to St. Louis for the first three months operation of Kiel Opera House.
And, not take one admission away from the Fox Theater.

St. Louisans can chose to fear or celebrate. Choices are good. I chose-celebrate.

Yes..Because Kiel is no longer an outdoor urinal and
trash dump. They are compatible. The Opera House was compatible with the Hawks, the Billikens, Tennis matches, conventions, circuses.

That was Civic Progress' promise - a great center
for music, arts, culture and sports. Yea..right.

That's all I asked..compatibility. And that's
what Dave Checketts is doing, and he will do it right.

Now, what do you promise?

Dr C. the 'urge' overtakes us from time to time..
but there will be more appropriate places as
St. Louis-led by Dave Checketts- brings back
our civic center. Please..find ways to support
this...tangible ways.

Let's loosen things up and enjoy the journey.

Mary 'bitched' enough that Civic Progress is giving her the MUNY. It;s time for the justice department to haul all of them in-downtown, midtown, and in the Park and put an end to this.
