Little political gamesmanship. Castro is not in the best of health so Bush starts talking about life after Castro and as if there is going to be a grand return to capitalism. Maybe all the talk is to put some pressure on Castro and hasten his date with enternial fate.

Life was supposed to be so much better for the Iraqis after Saddem Hussein was hanged.Castro is still with us and President Bush and the Cubans in Miami have begun their deathbed vigil.I expect Castro to be around when Bush has returned to Crawford.

Life after Castro would have happened by now if the Republicans, the CIA and Miami's not-so-misguided Havanamaniacs had not kept Cuba bottled up because they were greedy to control it.

Now that it is a fait accomplis, it's healthy for Republicans to talk about freedom in Cuba (freedom they denied it for 35 years) and the hateful aspect of Castro's government (the icon they rallied Miami Cubans with for all those years).

The next phase will be a flood of US taxpayer dollars to "rehabilitate" poor Cuba at our expense. We will go without national healthcare, education and plenty more to force-feed Cuba to the delight of its wannabe masters in Miami.

bush wants our allies to help cuba?
all of our allies are already helping cuba. the united states is the only country that is obeying the embargo against cuba.
so who is bush kidding?
cuba is no threat to the US.
never has been.
the only thing we want from them is to abandon communism. when they do that we can help them. doesn't matter that china, viet nam, and a host of other countries are "trading partners" with the US dispite their political leanings. but cuba is bad.

Unless we want Cubans butting into our affairs we should just shut up and let the people of Cuba decide what they want.

Bush today speech about Cuba was senseless.Nothing that he said is new neither it will help to Castro's removal. He is doing exactly what Fidel needed. He is giving Fidel ammunitions to accuse the USA for interference in Cuba's affairs and for Castro to raise nationalism in Cuba.Bush missed a huge oportunity to announce the end of travel restrictions to Cuba.It looks to me that nothing will be hapenning in Cuba, until either Castro dies or Bush term is over...unfortunately. Bush's speech was given with the only idea of fishing some CubanAmerican votes for the Republicans.!

When in college one of my instructors was an ex-Supreme Court Justice from Cuba. Over the period of time I was in class he stated he was run out of Cuba and that his wife and her family lost all their holdings in Cuba. I asked what holding and he stated her family was one of 10 families that owned 90% of the land in Cuba. Whether that is true or not I do not know but I can fully understand that if that was the case a revolution was in order. Problem was Castro became the dictator for life and his buddies remained in power.
If the ownership of property or wealth gets controled by a few the people will seek a redistribution of wealth.

Yo Bernardo:

Why don't you bid on Che's scrapbook, you might even get a lock of his hair. That would make you feel important.

Bush sounded impotent because he is. After a generation of keeping Cuba on ice, Miami's little rotunda is going to do a 180 and remind everyone how they fought against the embargo, but it was always the Evil Prince Fidel who stopped them from bringing peace and tranquility to Cuba.

I can't wait to see the hog-call as Miami suddenly remembers its roots and taps the US to buy it back for them.
