I think it is a shame that the tracks are closing. These dogs were bred to run. They LOVE running! I have 2 greyhounds and I know that if I don't let them run outside, they will run inside. The track owners are wonderful people who have spent their lives involved with these dogs.
There have been accusations made about track owners and trainers that were listed as some of the major reasons some want tracks closed.
There are abusive people in every area of life but that doesn't mean that all are bad.
I think that those who are on the side of banning racing and closing these tracks have done the greyhounds a terrible disservice. Are they qualified to say what they are saying?
I truly believe that greyhound racing is a good thing for the breed and I pray that people do not succeed to shut down all racing in the US.
If these groups who want to ban racing feel so strongly that they want to help this breed, then go to Spain and other countries and save them because that is where even the best racers are abused. Work with the breeders around the world to make sure that once a greyhound is done racing, that it can be placed.

this line of thinking led to slavery, after all, blacks are obviously built to do hard labor right? what a jerk you are, do you not realize that except for training they spend their lives in a small cage? after they can no longer win races they are killed outright. you need to go and die now

Patch I hear you on the racing. Just like owners of pitbulls not all owners are responsible owners but dont penalize those that are. Different people treat their pets differently.

TheTruth-You are an ass. Comparing what happened to the blacks and Jews to greyhound racing? Seriously?
The amount of jobs that have been lost because of fools like you. I bet you are against gambling as a whole arent you? Even as CT, RI and NH take the money we could be taking and using.
There are good owners everywhere and they far out weigh the bad. And not all dogs were locked up in small cages unless they were racing. Again, uniformed ignorance leads to loss of jobs.

reason why the tracks closed -
the people voted on it....
the trainers had an entire year to place these animals and the people that worked there had an entire year

nope you are the ass and you are proving it. it is a fact that people that derrive pleasure from the torture of animals are pshychiotic, these poor animals are forced to spend their short lives being fed steroids and worked to death, if they outlive their racing days they are simply killed. and wny would i be against gambling? it is an excellent income stream. so please tell me the differnece between doing it to greyhounds and people? the nazis saw the jews as you see dogs. and i see people like you the same way, if we met on the street i would definitly put you in a cage, you pathetic peice of shit

Funny how the owners of these dogs are so quick to dump the dogs into shelters that they claimed they "cared about" so much now that they no longer making money. Just proves that they really didn't care about them as much as they claimed when they were campaigning against the ballot question.
