as a die-hard Rk Fan that you are, i realy must commend some of your biased additions to the wiki post..well, just for you to know, we also read wikipedia week in, week out, so we know what is not and what is..Hope you understand..well,if rajesh was the lead star, then what was dharmendra???..incase you dont know, during the films release, most of the promotions, distributions, posters as well as publicity were majorly on Dharmendra's name which of course, was because at the time, dharmendra was far above rajesh khanna based on box-office collections and star-power status.Rajesh on the other hand was a diminished star and was no longer dependable for producers compared to dharam who was still one of the major stars of the 80's.Am not trying to say kaka played a second fiddle, but rather, if you watch the film clearly, both were portrayed as the leading heros equally.Even as rajesh plays a double role, dharmendra still has a greater screen presence and eventualy steals the show brilliantly..The film achieved hit status basically because of dharmendra, not rajesh..The only unfortunate thing is that dharmendra was realy underrated,a man who remained at the top for a long number of years.Rajesh just gets praise from past laurels because in the real sense of the world, his glittering career was very brief and short-lived to my liking compared to dharmendra who was phenomenally consistent..And pls, dont be misguided, khamoshi and Rajput were never hits, only the former did average business.lets base our points on facts, not mere opinions..

thanks a lot pal..it just pains to see people shying away from the truth and undermining those that truly deserve the neccessary acclaim..i can never forget the 80's era, dharmendra was unbelievably still in demand and the best directors including JP Dutta flocked at his door steps with both delivering a film par excellence, Ghulami...this was not the same with rajesh, tho he was still widely respected based on his past achievements, but no, the audience wanted consistency, dynamism, perseverance, avoiding the reliance on past glories, instead the need to continue to prove that you are the best..it was sad, that the truly talented rajesh could not cope with this as he duely forgot that the only thing constant in life is change as compared to dharam who indeed cemented his status as a star to reckon with beyond all reasonable doubts..Anyways, lovely film from both these LEGENDS, but still, the truth must be told..

1984 - Rajesh's hattrick hits in 1983 Souten, Avatar and Agar tum... had given him the status of Super Star returns, Lion roars again. In this backdrop he signed nearly 30/40 projects.

Dharam aur Qanoon was one such movie which had him in double role and the movie revolved around Rajesh Khanna. He was doing action and romance as a young man and doing emotions, tragedy as an old man. Dharam had a important role too. but both were hamming due to poor direction and editing. Dharamendra actually hit the jackpot in 1984 with Nauker Biwi Ka which released the same time and was a super hit. Dharam aur Qanoon was their last together as you can see the Rajesh influence on the director- best dialouges scenes were Kakas. It is said that these cuts on Dharam's role spoiled their plans of acting in future movies. Dharam flourished and in 1985 he gave ghulami in 1987 he gave 5 or 6 hits like hukumat which carried him to the 1990s

I have to say your thoughts are laughable and being an ignorant sentimental RK fan that you are, i cant help, but pity you.yes, no doubt he gave a hatrick of hits in 1983, but that was precisely after four years of unprecedented box-office failures, then what happened post 1983, he returned to where he rightly belonged, doldrums of the flop valley, except being helped a little by Dharmendras presence in dharam aur kanoon as well as jeetu's influence on masqad..RK can not just be compared to Dharmendra..Dharmendra remained at the top for years, a feat poor rajesh khanna could never do..rajesh khanna came and saw, but never conquered..THE CONQUEROR,DHARMENDRA RULES ALL THE WAY!!!..

Common mazhar, it never gave him super star returns or lion roars again,or bla bla bla(Amitabh bachchan had earned the tag and was undisputed, the only actor who was worthy of being termed "superstar" was Dharmendra due to his unbelievable level of consistency, Rk was no longer worthy of the tag)..what those films did do, was to give his ever passionate fans nothing but hope..hope that naturally comes with life..life, with his outright doom in sight..From then on, he continued delivering flops after flops..Even good films like amrit, and to an extent vijay, could not still save, this continued throughout to the 90's.Dharmendra at the time, still gave resounding successes like Mardon Wali baat, elan-e-jung, veeru-dada and a host of others.Producers/Directors were even begging dharmendra for a starring role in their films(even if for a special appearance just to give their films appeal and crediblity), younger generations rallied to pair with him..and we duely saw his impact in films like soone pe suhaga, ilaaka and even the earlier, insaaniyat ke dushman..such was the demand and craze for him, even at 53yrs..needless to say, this was never possible for a much younger rajesh whom at the time, would have been a miracle if top banners came knocking at his door..He was clearly finished and started to resort to character roles whic still were meaningless..
Dharmendra still played lead roles uptill the 1990's, such was his dynamism, energy, star-power and unrivalled personality.now, you judge for yourself, sentiments aside.

its unfortunate, i gave a detailed explanation earlier, but something went wrong with the website, and my post did not go through if not u would have understood fully..
But you see, its nothing new, even, the doyen of cinema acting, Dilip saab never got that status in his time. The talented Rk was perharps labelled the first superstar due to his TSUNAMIC ERUPTION from 1969-1971 where he churned out an unprecedented 30 consecutive hits, but he failed to capitalise afterwards. It would have been awkward to have labelled dharmendra the superstar tag after rajesh 's downfall at the time even tho dharmendra went on to achieve iconic and insurmountale successes that rajesh never came near to.Firstly, becos rajseh earned it when both were impeccably ruling the roost has they existed in the same era (before the media that tagged him the title were made to believe wot they never thought they would believe i.e his non-ending declining career), and dharmendra was much more experienced and older in age..

just for the records, Dharmendra is widely considered as an all-time bigger superstar than rajesh khanna in terms of overall impact and achievements..Also it was reported in Bollywoodmantra, that the most successful actors in the history of hindi-cinema while majorly considering Box-office earnings are DHARMENDRA, AMITABH BACHCHAN & SRK in that other..FACT!!!! Poor Rajesh khanna, despite all his efforts..lol

what nonsense r u speaking speaking???
dharam aur kanoon is a hit .
its very specifically given in box office sites.
anyways in foruim if people like u r determined to just deem rajesh khanna as an actor existing or acting well only from 1969-1975 den i cant help it..

many tiumes i have given links, view with justifications as to how many variety of roles rajesh has done from 1969-1990.

he has donwe roles which nasser , om puri, dharam ,amitabh each one of dem could do.
but they cannot do each of the roles of rajesh.

om puri or naseer can do babu but can they do kati patang?
rajesh can do dost or sharafat but can dharam do babu, avtaar, amrit, kudrat, dard?

many times i hve repeated i respect all but its true n fact beyond doubt that
1)pran
2)sanjeewv
3)rajesh
4)devenand
5)dilip
6)dharmendra
7)jeetendra
8)amitabh
9)onpuri , naseer,balraj
9)aamir
10)srk
11)
dis list pertains only to hindi
