Debasing Rock-n-Roll. Those were the buzz words the Watchtower attached to some of the music of those days. In deciding this, the journal suggested the titles and/or imagery were often enough without even listening or reading the lyrics.
Anyway, the write was supposedly a warning and directive to the Bethel Family members to get ride of thier debasing Rock-n-Roll. Bethel people were mostly single young males who did labor work for the magazine manufacturing business of the religion.
I remember a case were an individual had to get rid of a profitable cigarett manufacturing business and the Watchtower reasoned inaccordance with Deuteronomy 14:21 that the business could be sold. And, then their is the write on "make friends by means of your unrighteous riches" which translates into give us the money. Ha ha!
They could have a different system in place that dosen't require the watchtower to decide what is acceptable to that persons concious.
