SOME will be unmissable, others unendurable and the majority just somewhere in between.

Hmmm.....

Maybe if those Catholics listened to the Pope and did not use birth control, the school would not be 95% Muslim right now.

This news certainly raises the issue of if, eventually, it becomes and explosive situation or not!

Single faith schools are a recipe for sectarianism.

I'm all for dividing kids up by their ability, but not which potty version of God-bollocks they believe in.

Would the Muslims reciprocate? Do they believe in the Golden Rule?

If an area has changed it's ethnic composition, the schools will be effected and also need to change. Kids should not be punished or handicapped.

Whther we have single faith schools is a seperate question. SO far they have shown good results, especially the Catholic ones. Will single faith muslim schools be just as good? There needs to be regulation by the government to ensure that the social values of this country are well taught with a good focus on science, and equal education of boys and girls.

"Just 10 years ago more than 90% of pupils were Catholic. But now most are of Asian origin, do not speak English as their first language and follow Islam."

The criteria for pupil acceptance at that Catholic school are highly suspect if 90% of them end up being Muslims!!
Although being Catholic is prefereable and RC kids are given priority, it is by no means a requirement to be of the same faith to attend Roman Catholic single faith schools. These are typical requirements: http://www.cardinalhume.com/policies/admissio...

In an area which has lost it's RC population, it makes no sense to devote church resources if most of the school population is not of the faith. That is exactly what has happened here.

Catholic Schools are usually Private Schools and run either by the Church, Bothers, or Nuns. In good old Vatican style, they are supposed to be a cash cows.

So, the heading statement confuses me a little? Are we taking of a school that used to be private Catholic School and it has changed hands - like many a corner store does weekly throughout the Kingdom? Or are the Muslims now running private schools for the more affluent followers of Islam?

Or is it still a Catholic School but 95% of the boys just happen to be called Mohammed. Clearly, I am not up with the news on this amazing revelation?

In fact, I am wondering why it is news at all?

Thanks for that piece of information.

Not everyone in the Government is a goose after all.

Not all denomination schools in Britain are private.
Just like there are some 'state assisted' Church of England schools, some are called Catholic schools, but state funded.
It was part of the undertaking that they had to accept some 'non-Catholic' to be under the wing of the state, to avoid discrimination in an area (a Labour clause brought up in the 70s).
But, when the percentage of non'Catholic reaches ...95%, there are some questions to ask as to the validity of the status as a 'Catholic school'.
As far as I know, there are no state-funded Muslim schools in UK, because they refuse to accept the core curriculum, and also to accept non-Muslims. What a surprise!!!

THREE Blackburn Islamic organisations want to set up controversial ‘free schools’ in the borough.
The Department for Education said it had received three expressions of interest from the groups to set up the schools – a major plank of the Coalition Government’s education policy.
But the National Union of Teachers said it feared the new schools would encourage segregation and would take millions of pounds from pupils in mainstream education.

Excellent piece of information, GirlFriday.

It is this sort of use of public money which could be used for divisive education that needs to be monitored and regulated by local education authorities. I'm afraid as much as I sympathise for muslims in this country, their communities have not reached sufficient maturity to be allowed to edeucate the young any which way they like. When it can been shown that the communities can control their extremists and avoid the Wahabist type influence on religious education, the situation may be reviewed - but we're some way off that at the moment imho.

Well, the Muslim take over started and is slowly, but surely making its way to the instituitions. Bradford already has a Muslim majority population; soon more towns & cities will follow. What will the demographic scene be like in UK, in 25 years?

Maybe UK should colonise Pakistan again & swap populations; let in the entire population of that country into UK while we move there!
Pakistan has beautiful mountains (skiing & vineyards) and a warm coast (Costa del karachi) plus it is a bigger country...!
