On the other hand a pope once asked the governor of Texas to spare the life of someone that he regarded as worthy of some mercy. The governor of Texas effectively told the pope to drop dead. Wasn't that George Bush? Didn't Mike Huckabee display exactly the same response to a papal plea for mercy?
Pope should ask for mercy for all these innocent Afghans, Pakistanis and Iraqis who are murdered by usa and western countries from 9 years.
And this woman, it is a noble action of Pope. The Pope is already old man and wants to save this woman especially that she is likely innocent and Iranian officials who are great and merciful people should release this woman even for holy peace.

naturally that Muslims must have centers to be able to pray, to cultivate own culture. It is sad that it is such rascism and intolerance against these Islamic culture and nations.
I don't know if a Muslim needs a center for prayer, but if they want one that's fine with me. Let them build it wherever they like, I say. These guys are all just trying to figure out a way to stop the mosque without sounding like the racist bigots that they are.

Yes.
I point out, however, that there is rather a history of popes writing to state governors so ask for mercy for some condemned criminal. George bush got at least one of these and he completely ignored it. Mike Huckabee, a Republican in Arkansas got such a plea and he completely ignored it. Therefore, I am not impressed when Republicans cry out for heeding the papal plea for this woman. She should certainly be released, but so should those guys for whom the popes wrote pleas for mercy in the past.
