What a poor excuse for a pope. So called powerful and yet nothing has been done to fix the problem. Wimp!

The worst part John Paul II knew about this and didn't do a thing about it. What a poor excuse for a so called spiritual leader. The best part of this God is watching and will be down this might wrath on this.

Worst things are yet to come.

Less catholics will go to watch the papal mass than will go to watch glasgow celtic play at the weekend.

SO while many still call themselves catholic they are distancing themselves from the disgusting money making machine that has the gall to call itself the catholic church.

Wrong. There are Catholic churches in England same as every other stupid religion or cult out there.

The Anglican church has undergone its own pedophile scandal, as a matter of fact.

There are NO religions that are NOT infested with sexually predatory clergy. NONE. This is because the context of a religious environment makes it especially easy for a "wolf in sheep's clothing" to exploit the vulnerable.

The pious give their clergy unconditional respect, trust, obedience, which creates PERFECT victims.

Judaism, Islam, The Jehovah's Witnesses, Southern Baptists, Pentecostals, Mormons, independent Evangelical and/or charismatic churches are just as full of perverted predators as the RCC.

The celibate tradition of the clergy in the RCC simply attracted more homosexuals to the clergy than heterosexuals. Of any group of homosexuals, there will be a subset of homosexual pedophiles. In any group of heterosexuals, there will be a subset of heterosexual pedophiles.

In faiths with non-celibate clergy, female victims outnumber male victims of pedophile clergy, just as in the general population; there are more heterosexuals than homosexuals, and therefore more heterosexual pedophiles than homosexual pedophiles.

It is desperately important to those of us who have worked against child sexual abuse (CSA) that every member of every religion understands that the RCC "pedophile priest scandal" was the tip of a very ugly iceberg.

Well, they've done quite a bit internally to protect children-they have strictures in place now for those working with children that make any other institution appear like they're granting shore leave.

What would you have them do? Simply curious.

In the UK at least, other organisation are taking lessons from the Catholic Church in how the they have organized the protection of children within out of school groups and outings.

Then look at the work the church is doing in Africa to help poor and deserted children.

The Catholic Church is a model of real 'humanism' at work. Well publicized bad eggs cannot overshadow the massive work for the good which the Roman Catholic Church is involved in day after day.

The Pope's second day in Britain was hailed a great success and he's winning over a large cross section of the British people from past leaders to ordinary working people.

The guilty priests should be defrocked and tried in court like any other child abuser. And published on the list of known sex offenders.

If you call his harangue against secular public life, government and law "inspiring", I'll call you a religiot.

WHEREVER religion has ANY authority over public life, government and laws of the land you get not just sexual and financial exploitation of the vulnerable, you get conditions like those that have engulfed the Islamic world in abject poverty, bigotry, hatred, violence, injustice, tyranny and butchery....YOU know, just like Medieval Europe during the Inquisitions.

Religion is at best an anachronism, and at worst, divisive, backward, violent, bigoted, unjust, and IGNORANT.

OH, the Poop's "rational" alright. He sees the purse, power and prestige of his RCC dwindling before his eyes. It frightens him to death.
Good.

No need to denigrate the religious...Until their religion intrudes upon secular life, government and law.

But...I denigrate 'em anyway because they're stupid.
