What about being fruitful and multiplying?
The Roman Catholic tradition seems to be one of the few religions that extols a trait at odds with human biology.

There are plenty of people who marry and have children. I'm sure it is a sacrifice to give up something natural to a person for the love of God. He is their only Reason for sacrificing and remaining virgins. They want to belong to God in a special way, and there is not anything wrong with that.

So many Catholics have spurned the Church teaching on that, preferring instead the contraceptive mentality. This has contributed to the dearth of priests and nuns. Apparently B16 wants to talk up the celibate life.

Study JP2's Theology Of The Body, and you'll conclude the opposite. Another teaching which is widely ignored now, but will shape the future Church for years. Once they read it.

Wow, what a really pretty idea.
Or is it?
Seems to me that this concept of remaining a virgin is outdated and really does more harm than good. If we as a society embraced the concept that sex happens, and had meaningful, detailed discussions with our children when they reached the age of puberty, informing them on all aspects of physical love (birth control, consent, love, disease and prevention, masturbation, porn, desire and even abstinence) we'd all be better off.
Of course we can listen to the Pope and live in this little fantasy world that kids aren't having sex (and by kids I mean 16-17 years old, anything younger is another discussion) and allow them to move blindly into the fray, armed with little to no knowledge and HOPE they make the right decisions.
Sex is part of life. It's a beautiful thing shared by two people. There's nothing dirty or wrong about it. But it does have to be treated with the proper respect as most great and wonderful things do.

From now on if your Catholic and a Virgin, remain that way the Pope says so. If you belive in GOD and the Catholic church then you know the Pope is infallible. Which mean he cannot be wrong, not such a bad idea anyway considering all the disease and teenage pregnancys! So Listen to your POPE! No sex! Unless married, also no condoms according to the Catholic church sex isn't ment for personal gradification it is ment for procration! So don't have sex for fun either just for having kids.

Funny! God tells us to be fruitful and multiply, yet the RC cult does everything in its power to discourage sex. Let's all give up sex and let the human race just fade away! Now THAT'S smart!

I can't stop laughing - ladies, make sure you keep that little piece of skin intact! It means so much to God!

God, being Intelligence Itself, will most likely some day through evolution cause that silly useless piece of skin become extinct.

Matt 19:11-12 He answered, "Not all can accept [this] word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it."

Rev 15:4-5 No one could learn this hymn except the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been ransomed from the earth. These are they who were not defiled with women; they are virgins and these are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been ransomed as the firstfruits of the human race for God and the Lamb. On their lips no deceit has been found; they are unblemished.

Question (if you care to answer)- why the phrase "not defiled with women", and what is so special about being a virgin? Does sex (and I'm not referring to promiscuity) somehow make a person less worthy or holy in some way?

The decision to have children is a highly personal matter; no "pseudo-Christ" a.k.a. pope has the right to tell anyone they must be open to having children during every sexual encounter. The RC church has always given sex a bad name, no matter how they try to deny it.

I hope you find the special man you're looking for :)

I don't believe that is the teaching of the Church. I think it may be rather the misunderstanding of the Church's teachings that has "always given sex a bad name"

I think it has something to do with total devotion to God. Certainly it is an amazing sacrifice.

The church want women to stay virgins but the church can molest/rape/sodomize boys.
Where in the bible does it say this behavior is what the invisible man in the sky (GOD), wants us to follow?
The church is as bad as politicians. If the lips are moving you can pretty much bet that they are lying.
Pick a faith, anyone of them. They are all a bunch of hypocritical dirtbags.
Case in point.
The church is against homosexuality. All gays are going yo hell, due yo their lifestyles according to these dress wearing men. But the priests, cardinals and whoever else thinks it fun, can have these homosexual tendencies with underage boys?
Seems like more of the "do as I say, not as I
do" syndrome, which is normal for the
church.
People can believe what they want, and follow any faith they want. I don't care. I hope it gives you peace. But I don't need a so called man of god that wears a dress and his buddies like to "instruct" young children to the ways of the lord, to tell me what I can/cannot and should/should not do
regarding anything in my life.
This also shows how the church is trying to change the bible (as they have from the beginning). Humans are made the way they are for the very reason of reproducing. Babies are a gift from god, ask the church. Theyll tell you the same thing. They are also against abortion because it's a life that god has given to you.
I think that senile old fart should just go put his dress on and play in the corner someplace and leave people alone. Just because a bunch of other child rapers voted him to that position he BELIEVES that he's god.

Organized religion is for people who can't think for themselves. Sex is fun and nothing to be ashamed of. It is a natural drive.

You hit that one on the head. Bad enough being a single guy. Now the church wants to keep all the sex for themselves with little kids.

Right, and interesting. Strongest human drive is the will to live; second strongest is the sex drive. God made it that way so it must be important

Sex is a natural act, but with the Free Will GOD has given us it is up to us what to do with it, Sex was given to us to be sacred is the Sanctity of marriage! Given the free will we have it is our choice if we wish to make sex dirty or a simple act of self pleasure. What got intended wasn't for porn, for having sex with many many partners, as you can see by looking around the world, the amount of STD's out there, the unwed fatherless children the poverty from having children without marriage, sure these would still be present in marraige but in far less numbers. TV is much to blame girls and boys sre raised watching sex or sexual situations at a very young age, any child with a ps3 or xbox can get onlint and watch porn when there parents arent around. This makes woman a much less meaningful creature, the male labito more inclined to see a woman as an object rather than a person, men and woman will lie and say whatever is nessesary is some cases just to have sex then after they get what they want repeat the process over and over. This is not what GOD intended, Sex is a beautiful thing to be shared in the confines of marriage, not just a way of getting off, oh shes cute i want to have sex with her, is the wrong message. Times are different and few follow this , sex is just an act a feel good a drug if you will to so many. Waiting to share this act with one person for life is the most beautiful thing there is forsaking all others until marriage. Thats what I belive and I think society makes sex sure a norm that is ok to have 10, 20 30 partners in ones life. i disagree! I think these views are a large part of what makes society fall. It is a sacrifice but when you find the one you love and share that with that person and that person alone it is all worth it, Having sex at 12, 13 ,14 etc is a terrible way to start life and is not the way it was ment to be!
