Oh my goodness gracious ... it seems that the Catholics DID add that Christ went to hell before the Protestants got a hold of the tricky-Dicky dogma.

Reprint of the 1926 ed. Published by World Pub. Co., Cleveland.

From the “The Lost Book of the Bibles, by Bell Publishing, New York, comes the following………..

The Apostles’ Creed.

It is affirmed by Ambrose,“that the twelve Apostles, as skillful artificers assembled together, and made a key by their common advise, that is, the Creed; by which the darkness of the devil is disclosed, that the light of Christ may appear.” 1 Others fable that every Apostle inserted an article, by which the creed is divided into twelve articles; and a sermon, fathered upon St. Austin, and quoted by the Lord Chancellor King, fabricates that each particular article was thus inserted by each particular Apostle:-

“Peter.- 1. I believe in God the Father Almighty;
“John.- 2. Maker of heaven and earth;
“James.- 3. And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
“Andrew.- 4. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary;
“Philip.- 5. Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried;
“Thomas.- 6. He descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead;
“Bartholomew.– 7. He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
“Matthew. 8. From thence he shall come to judge the quick, and the dead;
“James, the son of Alpheus.– 9. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church;
“Simon Zelotes.– 10. The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins;
“Jude the brother of James.– 11. The resurrection of the body;

TINK about it.

Long after the bible was published ... theologians kept on writing and writing and writing new meanings to the old words and adding yet more words to complicate the situations.

If the message in the bible was clear ... why were theologians so intent on explaining the meanings of the words???

None of the baffle gas makes any sense whatsoever.

continued from the above

“Matthias.– 12. Life everlasting. Amen” 2

Archbishop Wake says:“With respect to the Apostles being the authors of this Creed, it is not my intention to enter on any particular examination of this matter, which has been fully handled, not only by the late critics of the Church of Rome, Natalis Alexander, 3 Du Pin, &c, but yet more especially by Archbishop Usher, 1 Gerard Vossius, 2 Suicer, 3 Spanhemius, 4 Tentzelius, 5 and Sam. Basnage, 6 among the Protestants. It is suffice to say, that as it is not likely, that had any such thing as this been done by the Apostles, St. Luke would have passed it by, without taking the least notice of it: so the diversity of Creeds in the ancient Church, and that not only in expression, but in some whole Articles too, sufficiently shows that the Creed which we call by that name , was not composed by the twelve Apostles, much less in the same form in which it now is.” 7

If the day ever comes that I tell someone that they should have been aborted, then and only then will you be able to say that I'm worse than you. Until that time, leave me alone. You're an instigator.
I am NOT supporting anyone calling anyone personal names. Never did.But You invited me into this conversation with you implied that Nick and I insult also. I agreed with you that we did but only gave you the blue ribbon for the most top personal insults. I would suggest that in order to be left alone you would need to stop trying to draw those you wish would leave you alone.into a confrontation

Nothing was said to you out of deference to me, not because he was giving you a pass.
Yeah, you do insult people and so do they. Keep digging that hole, mikey. We know how much you hate being shown for what you really are. This post of yours is just further proof of it. Keep on digging....I expect your insults toward me to get worse and worse now. So go ahead, spell the word all the way out, use the colloquialism that you really want to use, stop hiding behind the skirt of your computer screen. Coward.
...I have no idea what you are talking about.

Tony17 said, quote, "Everyone goes to hell eventually. Even Christ went to hell when He died. Hell is nothing but the grave so if you die,you will end up in the grave. That's all hell is." End quote.
Really? Jesus went to hell? Chapter and verse which says Jesus went to hell?
When Jesus cried upon the cross,“Oh, Father, why have you forsaken me?”(Matthew 27:46), it was then that He was separated from the Father because of the sin poured out upon Him. As He gave up His spirit, He said,“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”(Luke 23:46). His suffering in our place was completed. His soul/spirit went to the paradise side of hades. Jesus did not go to hell. Jesus’ suffering ended the moment He died. The payment for sin was paid. He then awaited the resurrection of His body and His return to glory in His ascension. Did Jesus go to hell? No. Did Jesus go to sheol/hades? Yes.
Apparently the story of Lazerus is fiction in your "religion".
Acts 2:31 says that Christ soul was not left in hell. But why did He go to hell AKA THE GRAVE when He died? Scripture gives us the answer. It states that He went and preached to the spirits in prison. But why? That's your homework assignment today. Tell us why Christ went to hell when He died and preached to the spirits in prison aka the grave or all those that had previously died.

Luther also wanted to discuss the false teaching, not supported by Scripture, that it is a wrongful act, due to ignorance, when priests claim to retain the canonical penalties on the dead in purgatory which did not exist. (Popes now say there is no such place)...
