I made a simple statement and backed it up with a link.

The wikipedia page is well foot-noted.

Please provide your own evidence to the contrary. Please show us where the CC invented hospitals.

Simple. Stop complaining and attacking the source. Just provide evidence and a source of your own.

Of course! Might was always RIGHT.

There were countless offshoot-sects of Catholicism that perished in the wake of the powerful Catholic military ... bibles in one hand and weapons in the other ... as they spilled human blood everywhere they went.

Had Adam and Eve been real people, who would have taught them the Catholic religion?

Would it have been the god of the Jews that supposedly created them???

If you pick theology apart ... none of it makes any sense.

I didn't say God came from nothing, I said the Universe came from nothing. No deity invlolved at all.

Martin Luther and his gang of thugs were also scoundrels and murderers in the guise of serving the supposed one and only god. But had they not broken the power of the Catholic church, today we might all be having to follow the wills of the Catholic dictators, or find ourselves burning at the stake.
Religion never has been just, and it never will be just ... and that is because humans (given any power whatsoever)... can't control the lust.
"Religion never has been just, and it never will be just...and that is because humans(given any power whatsoever)...can't control the lust."

Interesting statement,I can almost agree with the whole thing, because religion is not God nor His Part in our lives.Religion is human endeavor to discover or find God,gods, goddesses, spirits and so on.Religion is human based logic as to the Cosmos of what they perceive G o d is and so on and so forth.

Religion is all about we humans and our quest for a reality beyond us,as W E endeavor to find it.Lust for power and control plays an important role in every religion, because human beings by nature seek to both have power and control over each other.Human beings set the standard, and claim that the god they found set it in motion,if anyone falls they should either suffer things on this earth, and ultimately die lost to whatever god is perceived to be in control.

I am sounding like you now.BUT the truth is JUNE, there is GOD,who is beyond the human intellect to fully comprehend His reality, and what He wants for us all.

God IS,and beyond the very notion of our finite perception of E X I S T S,God is I AM,the eternal who has no rival in the Universe to replace Him.

You and I are either going to Love Him,or reject Him.To reject Him is to hate Him,and that means basically if you do not want to know Him here in the midst of His creation, than you do not want to be with Him for an eternity either.

That is really what being lost is.IF in fact June,God is OMNIPRESENT,and you desire now that you do not want anything to do with Him,than He will give you your final request to be FREE of HIM,and whatever or wherever you find yourself is due to your own free-will to reject His presence.

The Bible says"Be sure your sin will find you out." In the fact that you choose to reject the very "existance of God"and to mock virtually in your heart anything that applies to HIM,than when you enter that eternal nothing minus God,is the state of sin that will become the reality of where you go after you die.You are choosing a life without God,and what will be available to you beyond the grave remains a mystery to you now.But the sin of rejecting your Creator will find you out.

What is the outcome? No I do not know, and to be perfectly honest June, you have no clue as to whether or not that life minus your Creator beyond the grave will be pleasant or the opposite.

It is not a fear tactic, but just the fact of what you have available to you in the realm of your own F R E E-CHOICE!

I can't hate that which I no longer believe is based on truth.

I could hate what I believe is based on lies ... but hate is a waste of energy, so it is futile for me to hate religion.

I express my opinions against it because I am convinced that it creates nothing but trouble among devout believers.

Religion is a futile, but very lucrative business for those who earn a hefty living from the sale of nothing but words and more words.

Outrageous Roman Catholic statements....

I. "...we only have access to the Father by means of the Son, who is the Mediator of justice, so we only have access to the Son by means of the Mother, who is mediator of grace, and who obtains for us, by her intercession, the gifts which Jesus Christ has merited for us....you cannot come to God except by means of Jesus Christ, nor can you come to Christ except by means of his Mother." St. Alphonsus Ligouri, The Great Means of Salvation and of Perfection (The Necessity and Power of Prayer), Chapter 1, The Necessity of Prayer, Section 4 "The Intercession of the Blessed Virgin".

II. "God chose her to be the treasurer, the administrator and the dispenser of all his graces, so that all his graces and gifts pass through her hands. Such is the power that she has received from him that, according to St Bernardine, she gives the graces of the eternal Father, the virtues of Jesus Christ, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to whom she wills, as and when she wills, and as much as she wills.....
"We must never go to our Lord except through Mary, using her intercession and good standing with him. We must never be without her when praying to Jesus.....
"Beware, chosen soul, of thinking that it is more perfect to direct your work and intention straight to Jesus or straight to God. Without Mary, your work and your intention will be of little value. But if you go to God through Mary, your work will become Mary's work, and consequently will be most noble and most worthy of God.." St. Louis Marie de Montfort, in The Secret of Mary,#10, 48, 50.

III. "All the gifts, graces, virtues of the Holy Spirit are distributed by the hands of Mary, to whom she wills, when she wills, as she wills, and in the measure she wills." St. Bernardine (Quoted by St. Louis de Montfort in Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin,#42.

Catholic social teaching emphasises support for the sick, the poor and the afflicted through the corporal works of mercy. The Catholic Church is the largest non-government provider of education and medical services in the world.[20] Catholic spiritual teaching emphasises spread of the Gospel message and growth in spiritual discipline through the spiritual works of mercy.
The Catholic Church is the largest provider of health services in the world.[20] In 2010, the Catholic Church's Pontifical Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers said that the Church manages 26% of health care facilities in the world, including hospitals, clinics, orphanages, pharmacies and centres for those with leprosy.[82]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church
What was known as a hospital in the earliest days is nothing resembling what a hospital of today is nor its purpose and to whom. Care for the masses is definitely a uniquely Catholic institution as is education. That tradition is very self evident today so deal with it. As the govt. which let the masses die with no remorse today socialized medicine and govt facilities have replaced orphanages and care in certain countries who have opted to do so. However many places around the world rely heavily on the Church Christian or not for help they would not otherwise receive Honest historians do indeed credit the Church and the obvious fact that today the church still plays a very prominent role, but those who wish to spit on her for no other reason to spit do so. Oh, she just gives so they will be Catholic. Yes indeed it is those who have nowhere to turn to often cry out to God and his Church for help. It has always been so. Like it or not the Church has a prominent role in the development of many of many of things you take for granted today.
BM/FM may have changed his name, but he's just as big a jackass as he ever was. Yes, Catholics founded the first hospitals, as well as the university system, etc., etc. And for someone who claims to have been Catholic, he doesn't know anything about the Church's teachings regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary. For one thing, he conveniently left out the major prayer of the Rosary, didn't even mention it. Funny that. The rest of his little "list" is out in left field as well. Oh, well, what can you expect from someone who never set foot inside a Catholic Church much less was catechized in her. He does a good job of sticking his nose up the fundies, though. They love him with a passion.:)

They continually try to feign humility by claiming that a god can't be known ... and then they use the bible to preach all about what god does and does not do and thinks and expect of human nature, and blah, blah, blah.

Fools will be fools.

Why don't you stop with the pretense, June, and just admit you're a fundie dressed in atheist's clothing. The only ones you have fooled here are the secularists, but they were never too bright to begin with. Next thing we know, you'll be copying and pasting from Jesus-is-saviour dot com, or the Reader's Digest again. Better yet, Amazing Lies dot com, that nice SDA site that all the intellectuals use.

I believe the Word was established in the beginning with God, my question was do you?
You're straying from my original question. Why do you think the ' word of God' has to only be the written documented words?
And yeah, I believe the word was established in the beginning with God. He is outside of space and time. Our lives and the billions of lives before us was a 'thought' by God- in one stroke of a brush. We deal with age and time. God doesn't. So the Word was of course, always there.
But nowhere did Jesus Christ nor His Apostles command Christians to only follow their documented words. And nowhere does the Bible say its the Bible. An outside source (The Catholic Church) declared those writings 'the Word of God', ALONG with the oral sacred traditions handed down from the Apostles.

People like you picked up a Bible after it was printed in 1452 and ran off in a rabid frenzy- ESPECIALLY after you read the Book of Revelation and couldn't properly interpret it because your not qualified to do so. Not to mention, you have no business dictating Christianity anyway, because you're not an authority. Christ started a Church and its blatantly arrogant of you to snatch their Bible and teach your own version.

Very good post, and truth, truth, truth of what really is the human struggle, atheism is a human choice, but it has been the foundation of excessive societies, such as France when it was overthrowing the French royalty(the FRENCH Revolution),and later Napoleon's rule. Russia and its yielding to the young Communist Manifestos of Lenin,Bukharin, and later Stalin.

I have 72 in my Bible and you only have 66. For a sola scripturist as yourself, you ain't got enough scripture!!
